These guys wanna call an athletic girl with great muscle tone "butch" ?! What is this world coming to ?! But yeah I agree, high school kids can be not so nice at times and it's probably a good idea to not fuel the fire and just save her the grief.

Re: What did you get done? 05/11 Mothers Day edition

Still nowhere on the truck, or any of the other projects that really need to be done. I have been wet sanding clearcoat on my 67 Cougar. My arms and hands ache, I dont have any finger prints left, and I keep finding high spots the hard way. At least the hood seems to be done now, just needs hit again with 1500, then 2000 then buffed.

This car and the paint process has been soaking up all my time and resources, I cant get anything else done until this is done. I need the shop space for other stuff, and I cant put glass back in until after the paint is buffed out. I cant move it outside until the glass is in. I cant put anything else in the shop until the Cougar is able to sit out side for a few days.

So I am shooting clear, sanding, screwing it up, shooting clear, sanding, screwing it up, repeat until I die of exhaustion...

N2TRUX why does she care what high schoolers think anyway? Very few of them will actually matter in her life after school. Also if they say she is butch, they are just afraid she will kick their butt.

I worked on car "stuff" this weekend. Did a little bodywork on my 86 swb and put a liftkit and new tires and wheels on my jeep.

We are considering crossover sized SUV's like the Mazda CX7, Volkswagen Tiguan, and Saturn Vue. So far the Saturn Vue is coimng out on top.

I know you don't know me (so I don't know if you take it) but don't worry about the Mazda. I've been a mazda guy for a while and they get really bad gas milage. In town 14-16 and if you are lucky 20 on the hwy. It's just too much weight for the turbo4. That and the TMIC gets heat soak. The Saturn is way nicer.

I decided to take pictures of my work removing the rust and Walmart-o-liner from the side of the truck.
I'll share!:

Re: What did you get done? 05/11 Mothers Day edition

Friday went to a few parties at school.
Saturday went to Ridiculous Fest in the town over. It was pretty sick house party had 40+ kegs and over 700 people. Cool house to they had a 41 dodge power wagon and a few VW bug projects. Was supposed to go untill 2 am but the local cops where nice and told everyone to clear out by 8pm. Crazy part was that the kids who hosted the event chartered a school bus to bring people from campus to the house and back. Went to some more parties that night.
Sunday: called my mother and spoke with the family for a bit. Also agreed to put the insurance on the 84 for the first time in 2 years.

Thanks for all the input guys. Just so you know, for the most part the guys that rag on her are just "guy friends". She kicks their butt on Guitar Hero, and Rock Band, shoots hoops better than average, and likes trucks so they have to find something to give her grief about.

She would like a classic truck, but unfortunately they don't have airbags so that's an issue. Couple that with the rising fuel costs, and she is destined to drive the sportiest econo-box I can put her in.

I understand that. Fuel cost are killing everyone. My mom is the same way with the airbag situation. Only thing was i bought older vehicals before i could drive (13) and started fixing them up. My little brother tho is not so lucky and if it has no air bags it is a no go for him. Still I think he may be driving my truck a lot this summer because we have tommany vehicals and only my moms and dads have airbags. Good luck with the car hunt

Re: What did you get done? 05/11 Mothers Day edition

Didn't get anything done. I was gone...

Ken, I can't believe she is ready for a car either. Not sure how her peers get "butch" though, must be the generation gap. Just let her kick their butts when they say that

I am looking at a crossover SUV for Jamie, we are looking at the Jeep Patriot, Ford Escape, Chevy HHR and plan to look at a Vue also. She is also interested in the new Malibu...
