Re: Removing 1970 Blazer Top
Are you doing the body mounts yourself or having someone do them? What type of kit did you buy and where from? If you are having them installed at a shop, what is that costing you for installation? Thanks for any feedback, you and I seem to need similiar things done to our 70 Blazers.

Re: Removing 1970 Blazer Top
Order # W429845
Date: 05/28/2009 Parts: $ 179.95 Status: COMPLETE - SHIPMENTS MADE Part # Qty Description Price Total Status Shipped 30-0115 1 COMPLETE MOUNTING KIT-84PC 179.95 $179.95 Shipped 06/01/2009 That is what I ordered from: http://www.lmctruck.com/ It is a great site, you just click on the part number and stuff is on our porch a few days later I have a buddy who owns two shops here local, there is no "book time" on body mounts. He was hoping to get it done is less than 6 hours... His normal rate is $110 an hour, but it's much cheaper for me... Hoping it not much more than $500! From what I have been told it all depends on how the old crap comes off. My truck was always garaged and the parts I have pulled so far have all been real easy, no rust type problem.... Hope that helps, always open to try and help when I can!! Get some pics up JW |

Re: Removing 1970 Blazer Top
Are you changing out the ford mirrors? Looks like a very nice ride. Do you think any of our daily drivers will look that good in 40 yrs? Enjoy that thing, but be careful. Once you take the top off you may not ever want it to go back on.

Re: Removing 1970 Blazer Top
Whelp, bad new and good news I guess.... My buddy found some sort of metal sheet under the mat that covers the bed. He assumes it was put there to protect the bed... So in order to get to the body mounts he is going to have to pull the roll bar and maybe even the top... Sucks, hours gobbling up a lot of money...
I ask him not to remove the top, only as a last resort |

Re: Removing 1970 Blazer Top
pulling top w/out doing the mounts first - I thought this was the environment you were trying to avoid?

Re: Removing 1970 Blazer Top
Thanks Mint... Pretty happy about the score!
I will get a pic of that soon; tried with my cell phone but to hard to read... Getting the body mounts turned out to be a huge job! Sucks, but it's done now and done right... Pulling the top this weekend and the roll bar is headed to Reno (a buddy) for powder coat... Stay tuned |
