Re: Picture Thread: Parts

Nothing too special but I am pretty excited to get it in the truck when I'm finished painting the dash. It's a factory GM NOS a/c assembly.

I like this thread! I'm pretty sure we all have this parts addiction. Gonna have to dig up a few pics of things I have stashed.

Re: Picture Thread: Parts

Here are a few teasers. I may post a few others later.

The shoulder belts were in a 70 or 71 Blazer (seem to be the same as truck) and had the rears cut off at the boots. I found them at a local salvage yard for $15. The radio was also $15 (actually a van radio I've converted to look correct for a truck). The cool thing is that this particular van radio has a rear speaker connection and fader. So I built the extra speaker into one of my spare consoles. Sounds 300% better than just a front speaker.

Do your wives also hate it that you collect this stuff? I keep telling mine that we need to have spares...

Special K, you're funny! I'm glad I've had dads truck for only 4.5 years. I already have my own little pile of parts going. I can't imagine what it would be like or will be like years from now. I hope to have the truck years from now by the way

Nice, the caps sure are pretty. All I have left is a set of those caps and original step bumper. I'm keeping them as a seed of sorts, hoping that one day it will grow into a whole truck.

Funny? Hey,parts is serious bizniz...lol. Your lovely truck doesn't seem to need any parts...at the time. But,it never hurts to keep some spares round...just in case. Kind like keeping the freezer and cupboards full and never getting down to just one roll of TP. Well, except food and TP aren't as hard to find as some old truck parts. But be careful. It starts with a small box, then two, then hubcaps on the wall...ahem vvv

Re: Hubcap Wall Art

What started off as trying to find original 16.5 wheels and hubcaps for my truck kinda turned into a hubcap hobby. Funny thing is, I still haven't found my wheels! haha

How wide are you looking for? There's a junk yard outside of Mt. Sterling, Ohio that has a bunch of the narrower 16.5s. Its a good ways from you though for 100 bucks worth of wheels. I know of another set of medium width 16.5s just south of there too. I can't help you if you're looking for a set of the wide wheels. The problem with 16.5's is finding tires unless you go with the wide ones. Otherwise I'd recommend finding a set of Ford 16x7's that came on the pickups through 97 and the later model vans. They take a dogdish cap, alleviate tire sourcing problems, and look like the OE 16.5 wheels when painted white.

Re: Hubcap Wall Art

Good point on the 16.5s. Nebraska tire has the heavy lug bias 16.5x10 for around $200 that look like the original OEM firestones. That was the direction I was heading.

My truck came originally with 16.5x8.25 and was really looking for a set of that size. I have been looking at the Wheel Vintiques style 82 in the 16x8 as well. That may be the direction I take in the future. There is a guy who has a set of the 16.5x6.5 locally for $80 but am holding out.

Thanks for the insight.

No prob., for some reason I've been talking about this a lot lately. Scroll down to the C20 Custom Camper in this thread to see what the Ford wheels look like with the blue bowtie dogdishes:

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=552307

I got a set of the Ford wheels for my 67 and put 265/75/16 mud tires on it and I liked the look. I almost went the 16.5 route but I'm glad I didn't because the 16" tires are way easier to find and the modern tires are quieter than the bias ply tires. If I can find a picture of my 67 I will post it up to give you an idea of what that combo looks like on a 4x4.

The Ford wheels can usually be found for $25-35 per wheel, but you'd still have to paint them or get them powder coated.
