The rear end that i have is a 72 suburb. 4:11 5 lug, just bolt and go. So for me i just need disk brakes for the back. Man it took me 4 1/2 years to find a unit like this. plus i want to stay o.g. truck rear end. If a person just wanted to put disk brakes on the rear end thats on there truck 6 lug or 5 lug this is the cheepest way that i know, no welding, no fab work, no machine work. But i could be wrong. It just depeneds on what the person wants.

My Mechanic is charging me 60 buck to change the rear end, I got the power booster with the master cylinder for 50, a welder is going to put the same perches from the old rear end for 20, I think I just need to buy a proportioning valve for like 50 bucks. The mechanic said something about the pan hard bar or something like that.

Can somebody explain what the pan hard bar does, or what its for?

I also had some old slotted rims that I thought were gonna fit.

but as usual I ran into problems, it appears the front bolt pattern is 5.5 and not 5

so again I have to go looking for some rims,

I swear I must have bought about 5 sets of tires and 5 different sets of rims

trying to match bolt patterns

I have some cool 5 inch bolt pattern rims but they only fit on the impala rear end, it turns out the front is 5.5

My other friend who gave me the front disks said they came off a 1988 chevy 1500 , I looked up the bolt pattern and its supposed to be 5 on 5 not 5 on 5.5. Does anybody know what they might have come off of? is there any 88 chevy 1500 with a 5.5 bolt pattern?

well anyways now I have to find some 5 on 5ves for the front and 5 on 5.5ves for the back.

Im debating on finding a 5 on 5 disk set up for the front or just buying 2 different kinds of rims.

I like the slotted rims, but I saw a couple trucks with Thrust II's which kind of look like 17 in mustang rims or cragars, then again American racing makes some AR-23's that look cool.

Im gonna post some pictures from the progress

I never mentioned it but I have hydraulics on the front and back

and another problem Im running into is that my front cylinders are hitting the steering wheel bar, so im have to figure out what to do about that.

I hopped the truck a little and broke a tie rod on the passenger side, so I have a couple of new problems to deal with.

Ill put some pictures up as soon as I can

CHEVY CARS 5 0N 4.75
The ford trucks used 5 on 5.5
The panhard rod is used as a support or brace ,keeping the axle in place
The trackin arms alone wont do it.

wow, the rear end conversion from Classic Enterprise looks pretty kewl....if all your looking for is converting back over to 5lug Id go that route.
