Re: Cargo 3rd light LED interest?

The supplier I was originally hoping to use, has put this on the backburner for another projects unless I wanted to buy say oh.....a thousand of them. i picked another LED manufacturer last week and I will be able to get them made through him. Not sure at the cost though, I am hoping very reasonable so not to alienate to many customers on a budget. Anyways, he will also be doing full panel LED's exclusively for us as well. Stay tuned........

Mike

Re: Cargo 3rd light LED interest?

As leverage to get the guy to produce them, they are the same thing as Camaro back-up lights. He could sell a few more that way I'm sure.

Re: Cargo 3rd light LED interest?

Pretty sure it's 67-69, but not 100%. I know from the factory, GM used both left and right assemblies, because some of them have the wiring exiting towards the passenger side.

EDIT: I found the answer here on the board. '69 RS

Re: Cargo 3rd light LED interest?

I converted the cargo light on my '71 to a third brake light using mostly junk yard parts. Pretty simple job really if all you want is a third brake light and don't want to keep the cargo light.

I used (i think because it's been awhile) JB WELD to attach the new socket to the Chevy housing. Then scrounged the van section of the local Pick-A-Part until i found a lenses i could cut down and used some black silicone to make a gasket. You could check your local hobby shop for some red lexan to use for a lenses. I used the original cargo light wiring, one for a ground and ran one to the brake light switch so it would be separate from the brake lights.

Dave at Early Classic Enterprises seemed to like it so i guess it wasn't to redneck.
