I had a motivation, but I can't find it now. I even looked in the refrigerator and under the couch. Last edited by tmoble; 09-25-2014 at 03:19 PM. Reason: imagudsplr |

Re: 1956 3100 build
been staying motivated. trying not to get discouraged by the $15,000 body and paint quotes I have been getting. 9" housing axle tubes can aparently be bent even before welding. here is jig for straightening axles tubes. I got info from another site works really well without heat.can turn round bar through all dummy bearing by hand now. outer dummy bearings were off about 1/8" to 3/16" in one direction or another. now I can progress with putting the rest of rear suspension together finally.

Re: 1956 3100 build
Man you seem to be pretty skilled from the photos why not just do body and metal work prime and prep for the body shop and buy your paint and let a shop shoot it. You will save so much money. You can probably paint it yourself. I'm sure you can.

Re: 1956 3100 build
probably right Mongocanfly.while cab is still in bodyshop i am focusing on grafting camaro clip. as i am using big block with 2"headers.i am usin the no limit video and lots of pics from threads on here to start on frame. leveled front rear and side to side.measured from edge of cab mounts to C/L 28 3/8" brace in place 22"back from C/L,and cut off
bumper jack spreader (hard to find a bumper jack now) rails bent out 1/2" and bottom notched for camaro lower A arm mount. prepping subfame cut 14" back from shock mounting hole.and ends cut and tapered. subframe in white epoxy primer, i used a long 1/2" coupling nut and bolt for measuring a fit test 22" shock hole back to brace check stay tuned. |

Re: 1956 3100 build
hey temptest hows things in ontario? i think the most nerve racking part so far on doing camaro clip is bending out the frame on both sides 1/2"oh yes and cutting off truck frame cant forget that. the vhs tape of no limit video started to degrade in picture quality(rewinding so many times.) so i was able to transfer it
and put on usb stick. |

Re: 1956 3100 build
Hey, well you know Ontario, traffic, congestion, hustle and bustle...... (people pollution)
I have always thought that grafting a 'modern' front clip to these trucks was the way to go, but stayed away as I thought is was above my ability. I enjoy your step by step process, Thanks Hope the snow is not too deep out there, not like Nfld, |

Re: 1956 3100 build
hey everyone i have a few updates. got the cab back from body guy in primer so i can test fit seat and steering column. cab had extensive work done.it was at a local school so it got delayed since march due to covid .new inner outer roof skin, hinge pockets, cab corners step/rockers .i love this site lots of members with great ideas! smooth firewall in the works.along with hydro boost 496 bbc might not make much vacuum for brakes it sound wicked! i think the 2008 yukon seats are gonna look good.
black seats vs grey one built in seat belts 496 stroker test fire link https://www.facebook.com/danny.andre...3881846060307/ Last edited by 56 3100; 10-17-2020 at 09:59 PM. |
