Re: Gas Tank Removal Tips

I found an aftermarket gas tank for $148.88 with free shipping at the link below on Ebay.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/261384511362

I suspect maybe it isn't a Spectra tank. Anyone familiar with this vender: Bob's Classic Chevy? It's a great price, providing the tank is good quality. Any feedback appreciated.

Thanks!

Rock Auto $157.79 no EEC
$166.99 w/EEC
It is a Spectra. $22.28 to ship to Jersey, thoroughly happy with mine. I went non EEC with my 72 as all the EEC is history on it. There are two different cap sizes EEC vs. NON EEC, be sure to add the appropriate cap if needed. Drill around for a 5% off promo code as well!

If you are sure you have all of the bolts out and all hoses disconnected it should slide out. If it has any gas in it it will be heavy.

Re: Gas Tank Removal Tips

Slide to the passanger side and lift at the same time to clear the hose fitting on the bottom and the filler neck.

Re: Gas Tank Removal Tips

I know this is a very old post, and sry to hijack but im putting in a new tank in my 72' c20... anyone have any installation tips? Like use rubber tubing at the base so tank doesnt contact floor pan? Or use thick rubber washers between the tank and the pan? My old tank leaked at the bolt holes on the bottom, thought from to much vibration.. any recommendations?

Re: Gas Tank Removal Tips

Sorry for the late reply. Just saw it.

My tank didn't leak. It was the original tank, so it was just full of rust. lol. No vibration issues since I have changed mine out. If you think it will be an issue, rubber barrier on the bottom couldn't hurt. Hope it works well for you!
