and its still just a bunch of peices in the garage.

Daily 68 beater: 2500 purchase + 2500 for : front end rebuild, pwr discs, rear air bags, hidden hitch, ralleys & rubber, 5-lug rear axle conversion + brakes.
Resto-Rod 67: 1200 purchase + est. about 9k (includes 2-motors, 3 sets wheels/tires & doing things over & over until it's right).

so, about $11,600

jack it up to $13,000 for stuff I forgot. This is over 14 years! So my monthly payment is $77.38.

This doesn't include a far lower insurance payment, licensing, depreciation, tuneup costs, intrest payments on some crazy loan.

Don't hide these numbers from your wives. These are the cheapest things on the road, last longer and appreciate. If you don't like the mileage, its WAY cheaper to put in a vortech pullout with OD tranny and get that to.

1969 K1500 SWB..... paid 650.00 for it and just hit the $12,000.00 mark. But it adds up real fast when you buy every NOS part you can get your mudhooks on. $2000.00 in NOS boxsides alone. Its worth it in the end when the guy pulls up next to ya in his new 40,000.00 truck and wishes he had yours!!

UH UH NOSSIR! I'm not adding up those receipts until I have it painted. Its a sickening feeling to look at a bottom line and then look at the truck which is still more than one color.
I assume this isn't counting gas and oil, now THATS a big number too for these trucks.

I agree with mt AL. Investing money in these trucks is a much better option than buying a new truck. I bought mine for $2500 and probably have about $2500 in it so far. I'm about to start getting serious about this thing within the next couple of years. If your wives get mad tell them to Kiss Your A$$. Make sure you duck really fast after you do.

$400 worth of engine work
$800 worth sheet metal and body work

My new project:
$400 for the truck
$20 worth of sandpaper
$90 in black primer
$100 for stuff to make it run
The satisfaction of being the only gearhead in a new subdivision
and a lot more fun to go!!!!!!

for the first time in my life i got good deal on a car.. the way i see it, you are better off buyin a truck that is almost restored, or done, pay the $$. 10k will biy you a great truck and you will be far ahead of the game...

i bought my longhorn with 32k miles on it for 6k. best money i ever spent.

Got the truck for $1900.

$950 - Crank, rods, pistons, fluid damper, flywheel
$100 - Cam
$55 - Timing Chain
$1200 - 4-bolt 350 block and all the machine work and assembly

So, thats $2300 for the short block. I still have to buy my heads, intake, carb, headers, and all the other stuff for a new engine. Everything will be brand new.

Coming up in the next few days, I'm getting a set of rebuilt heads for the current engine and some exhaust manifolds. I need it to run well while completing the other.

Someday I will do a frame-off, so I will be seeing those $20K figures in the future. Oh well, what's money anyways?

And no, I'm not rich at all. I'm a poor college student. But I have patience. This education I'm getting will be plenty to help fund my hobby.

$3,200.00 for the truck, $300.00 in brake repairs all around, $100-$150 for wheel covers and many other NOS parts bought off ebay and $120 for p.s. retrofit.

I'm waiting for the wife to cut loose around another $1000-$1200 for an engine refurb/rebuild

At least I am able to spread this thing out over time. I got it all running well and inspected and drove it for about a month. Then began the body work. Once it gets its new paint it'll be awhile before I get new trim and start replacing pieces that I already have (steering wheel, seat cover and cushion, lenses, mirror glass)..... All I have replaced so far was to get it to where it had what the truck came with except trim and to make it all fully functional.
