Re: 72 K10 Frame Off
I hear that! I should start a thread in Alternate Tinkerings about all the house repairs, especially with nursery prep right now. No money or time for my Blazer.

Re: 72 K10 Frame Off
Looking to go with some bucket seats with a center console/seat such as the ones in the 03'-05' Dodge Rams. Is anyone running these seats? I've measured one but seems to be a bit too wide, I'm concerned that the driver seat won't center up with the steering wheel. Any help will be appreciated.

Re: 72 K10 Frame Off
WOW is all i can say. When came across your buildup, that's the same stance and tires i wanted on my shortbox stepper. What size of lift and tires are on the truck? Can't believe how much bondo was on the truck. You have done a good job in bringing back to life. What were those flares made of?

Re: 72 K10 Frame Off
Hey guys, I've been m.i.a. for a while dealing with Hunny-Do lists, business duties and dealing with a flippin neighbor that thought it would be cool to report me as having a chop shop in my back yard. Needless to say that didn't go over very well with the cops and the city. Now I have a tight time limit in which to put my car and truck together. I hate being rushed, this will certainly put a ding in my plans. I was forced to rush some parts over to powder coat, here's some of the goddies.

Re: 72 K10 Frame Off
The powder coat looks great on everything especially the frame. The block is begging to be black! Sorry to hear your neighbor is a dick. I have had my fair share of them myself. Thats why I live at the end of a private drive now.

I'm probably going to go with silver or gloss black instead of the gun metal. |

Here's some more progress for today, it got pretty warm, so I'm going to let the sun set a bit.

Re: 72 K10 Frame Off
As fast as your working the truck will be on the road in a few days! I hate this one is going to have to be rushed through. Best of luck to you and the unnecessary deadline!

Thank you, the part I dislike the most if that I need to get her back together without having the LS swap and NV4500 in place.

Re: 72 K10 Frame Off
Just build a taller fence or take the neighbor hunting.

Re: 72 K10 Frame Off
I was actually thinking about the fence too. If it's behind the fence, and the fence is tall enough, what/why/how can the city tell you what to do in your backyard?

Re: 72 K10 Frame Off
I second the latter . The S.O.B. called the fire dept. on me today and said I have an illegal paint booth in my back yard. I was undercoating the floor board when they showed up. They liked the truck and the car in the other tent and told me to go about my business. WTF??? These people have nothing better to do than make my builds even tougher than they are to begin with.

Re: 72 K10 Frame Off
The city ordinance inspector told me that he can't make me get rid of my property because it's all under my name. He did say that I live in a "bedroom" community and that a frame off restoration is not legal in such. I would have to do so in a shop. He did how ever say that he admired what I was doing with my car & truck and gave me some time to get them back together before he's to come by for another inspection. I spoke with him today and asked for atleast 2 weeks. He seemed cool about it. It still stinks non the less. I've been told by co-workers that if I plant bamboo by my fence, it will over take the neighbors yard within several months. Pay back is soo nice.

Re: 72 K10 Frame Off
My parents come by today and gave me a helping hand. My dad was really excited, she was his dream truck and owned her for many years before he gave her to me as a graduation present. She was a 7 1/2 year father and son project back in the 80's. She never got finished.

Re: 72 K10 Frame Off
Thats awesome your parents came over to help!
I say you fill up balloons with a weed killer/water solution and give them a toss into the neighbors yard. Makes for a pretty lawn!!! Use the glycol from the hardware store so it wont start killing it for a few days. By then the balloon is gone. If they are too far away to throw them, buy a water balloon sling shot. A few beers and a few friends, man thats some good times in the south!

We have a collector clause in the city ordinance that says i can have antique vehicles as long as they are registered or im showing progress on them. we also have a clause that says if it cant be seen by the city or other people (via privacy fence or garage) im not in violation. we also have a peeping tom ordinance that cost my outstanding neighbors a hefty fine. i feel for you man, but your right payback is nice. |
