The Blazer Chalet was actually a later coversion by Chinook in '76-77. Bigger, much heavier and made of fiberglass.

Steel square tube framework and overly heavy inside stuff, these things as orphaned camper units beg for reworks of lighter, better cabinetry, newer better appliances, and some kind of system to make them more easily removable so that you could end up with a more practical Blazer.

Better than 4Wheel campers at least because of windows on both sides, plus the two forward ones also made for good visibility when parked, and the taller roof allows for a person to move around inside without being too uncomfortable even when it is in the down position.

I say sell the camper. That's just me personally. I like vintage stuff, and obscure things, and that camper that Crewcab posted forsale is definately cool, but I have my blazer for daily driving and more practical reasons, hauling the family and vacations etc...

I prefer a newer modern camper for us, with family it makes more sense. There are very nice 18-20 foot campers out there now (not popups) that are light weight (~3500 lbs) that can easily be towed with my blazer for trips into the mountains, and I still have a functional family blazer when I unhook it.

I've seen a few of these blazer campers forsale, not alot of market for them anymore.

I want one to gut and restore with modern camper technology. But, you live pretty far away from me. How much would one go for? Anybody got an opinion?

There was one here local a few months back at a moving sale. $300 was the price, but I don't think it ever sold. The blazer he had it on did however. The camper shell was sitting on blocks in the yard.
He told me it was going to the dump if it didn't sell before he moved...

Without a 2 door blazer to put it on they aren't much use. Hence one of the reasons I said the market really isn't there for one of these unless you are nostalgic I'd say that asking price is about normal, if not maybe even a bit optimistic due to lack of applications and 40 year old camping technoligy.

$300 ?!?! jeez... It would have been a MUST have. (and I don't even have a Blazer ... YET) But, as is the case with most of these, mid west and beyond. Very few surfacing here on the east coast.

Yeah $300 may sound cheap, but it's a hard sale. I've seen a couple of them in the last year in that price range. Just not alot of blazers running around that want one.

Out here new campers and even motor homes are what everyone wants. I even have a blazer and had no desire to purchase that camper. I'd rather pull a 19' modern camper behind my blazer. More room for the family, flat screen cable TV hookups, sleeps 7, stove, shower, etc....
A 40 year old camper top on my blazer not only would render my daily driver useless, I'd have to rough it in there if I camped, I'm too old for that Could you imagine pulling that camper on and off? I don't even care to take the hard top off my blazer, I'm too old for that too

I think it'd be pretty damn cool to have that for camping and stuff even if its only used a couple times a year. I think I've only seen one other one for a first gen. Pics of interior look to be pretty roomy. Does the upper section over the cab have a bed like the old campers do? That way it could sleep 3-4 people. A small heater would be all you need to keep it warm in there.

So I am a new member because i recently bought a 1970 blazer. I was searching the boards for ideas and information and since the owner told me that it had a camper on it that when I saw this thread I thought I would see what an original camper looked like. As I looked at the pics things started to click and then noticed that the location was Vancouver which is where I bought the Blazer. The more I looked I saw details that made me 100% sure that this was my Blazer. They put it together with an OK paint job and a pretty good top on it. I am still deciding what direction to take it but for now am concentrating on making it a driver by replacing the wheels and tires (tires have nasty flat spots), replacing the fluids and leaky gaskets on the drive train. Wish they hadn't sold the camper as that would have been awesome! Will post more info when I have it.

that's the first 69-72 blazer ive seen in a long time with the four wheel camper on it.Driving around the Denver metro area I still haven't seen any blazer of any year with one,i guess mine is the only first gen and blazer in general on the road I guess?

Here are the pictures of where it is now. I swapped out the out of round tires and wheels with a set of rally wheels and tires I got for $200 bucks (Great Score). Had an issue with the brakes locking up so did a complete brake job including hoses, master cylinder, booster, wheel cylinders, turned drums etc. Changing the hoses was a bear. Gave it a tuneup. Found the motor had been replaced with an 1977 350. Found that the body mounts are bad so bought the new set and am waiting for the time to dive into that. Have decided that I will keep her mostly stock and just keep replacing the worn parts for now. She is just in such good LOW RUST shape! I am excited to see where the journey takes me.
