Stupid Stupid Kids...

Hey, not all kids are stupid. I'm 17 with one more year of high school left. I got my truck when I was 16, my Dad was looking for a truck for me to drive(and to use when he needed it) and I asked my Grandfather about the truck he had sitting out in the field('70 C/20) and he said we could have it for nothing, he just signed the title over to my Dad and we bought got new plates and an inspection sticker after buying 4 new 31x10.5/15's, I paid for half the cost which was about $500. I pay for gas every other time, and for parts when they're needed. I'm getting a new job soon so I'll be paying insurance too. It's a big responsibility to pay for your own truck and keep it running right.

Could it be the kid just isn't interested in a truck?
I'd rather see him not want it than to take it and trash it or worse yet do some foolish trade for a ricer!

My dad gave me the best motivation of all........ YOU WILL FINISH AND GRADUATE EVEN IF YOU ARE 26!!!!!! (NO car or truck involved) It only took me 12 years but he did buy me a 1969 Chevelle SS 396/ 400 auto, 331 limited slip rear for graduation. By the way I still have it and I'll be 40 in a few weeks. I wouldn't take a gold monkey for it.

i too am a "kid" turned 18 in november, bought both my trucks with my hard earned money. but still have decent grades in school. school is not my strong point, in fact, i hate it. but i do it because i need the grades to go on in life...if i fail my senior year, i can't start training and getting certified to be a firefighter like i am planning on doing...so that is my motivation. my parents would probably give me a vehicle for motivation if they could. but they have more important things to pay for and they can just threaten me...lol

It reminds me of American Hotrod. Bluebear was too stupid to know what a deal he was getting.(Boyd was paying him & crew to build his own car including parts!) He'll regret it some day.

Redneck, don't be pissed...BE PROUD OF YOURSELF!! You accomplished what most people only dream of by earning your own way and doing things for yourself. I have taken great pains to make sure that my kids understand that education is the key to success and that you have to pay your own way. When they hit 16, they have to get a job to pay for gas and insurance. Which is not to say they get a free car. We have several vehicles and they drive one of those ( Not MY '72 Cheyenne Super!! ) How much do you think this dumbass kid would have appreciated that truck anyway? Not much, I dare say.

Raising kids includes unseen mysteries and seemingly unexplainable outcomes. IMHO, only fervent prayer to the one true God can turn some stubborn kids around. Just my 2¢.

I bought and kept up my first car before I had a driver's liscence. All gas, insurance etc. came out of my pocket. I was never threatened by my parents about grades or anything, but I guess I wasn't a problem kid. I went on and got my college degree, so I guess I've done alright.

wow if my girls pulled something like that I would be short a couple of kids. HaHa. Good thing they are only 4 and 1, and they are already learning faster than I can keep up with.
