I was teasing -- hence the LOL ---- however, my car is worth as much as it sits as a nice restored Z-car or more --- the money is just put into different places. its not "tubbed", which implies a back-half hack job,-- its got a full cro-mo chassis NHRA certified to Pro-Mod specs (6 seconds) Dont even ask about the motor (laughs)

Ask another drag racer how much a Pro/mod car costs (but in all fairness, i probably wouldnt do that to a real Z either)

Plans are to restore back to original, minus some period mods
Tires, maybe redoing the chromie wheels, stuff like that

Re: My new toy !!!

Very Nice Score

If it is a "DZ" motor - it would almost be worth it to put 8 sleves in the block - just make sure the shop doesn't deck the block ID numbers off

I also would suggest like about to just put a regular 350 or 327 in it to get it running until you can rebuild the original motor

The only real thing holding me back from that is, I don't have a trans for it
But I have a line on at least a case for one

If you don't find the original case, I would seriously consider getting an autogear M22 supercase. They are MUCH stronger than the factory cases.

Looking at the interior pics, that poor thing was beat hard in it's short life

Re: My new toy !!!

Hey spray-bomb long time no chat, lol. I'm jealous to say the least. I like 67's and 68's better but I will assure you I would not bat an eye lash at a 69'.

I may be able to help you out though. What head are you looking for "Casting Number" even though they are not the way to go for modern builds I have been saving these heads for years just for this purpose. Let me know what you are lookin for and I'll let ya know if I can help.

Lucky sob, lol!

Re: My new toy !!!

Besides the Pro-Mod suggestion,---- which more than a few people don't like (its funny -- i look down my nose at a bagged truck with wild paint in favor of trucks with stock exteriors, yet a funny car caged 69 F body is one of my weekend toys--- at least its all steel though)

I would say - get that poor thing under wraps and dont let it see the light of day until it is ready for a magazine shoot. Too big of a chance of damaging it just driving it around----- unless you can find somebody to insure it for what its worth, which i would guess to be 20k, just as it sits -- 40-50k in todays dollars when its done. You would hate for some grandma in a camry to plow into you --- or some dually driving drunkard.

Its funny --- there were actually more Z28's made than most people recall, -- somewhere around 1000 in '67, 7000 in '68 and then 19,000 in 1969. Many did not survive the 70's sadly.
In terms of numbers, your Kilroy truck is actually much rarer, but is not worth 20k --- weird -- which makes me ponder the question "Where did they all go?"

Here is a link for you http://www.riversidegear.com They have everything you need to build a muncie. That is what came in it, probably an M22 but you'll have to run the numbers to be sure. Also, here is a link to a Camaro site that is helpful" http://www.camaros.net/ "just like this great truck site.
