Re: 72 c/20 "The Orange Machine 3"

I know many people don't like the orange but it kind of runs in my blood. My father pulled AC's for many years. It's a little tribute to him. I think it is the new red.

Re: 72 c/20 "The Orange Machine 3"

Here is a picture of the motor that will make it run. It is a well built 5.9 cummins out of a 1991.5 d***e. I know its not a p pump motor but it will work for now.
[IMG][/IMG]
Geting this thing to fit between the frame rails was easier than I first thought it would be.
[IMG][/IMG]
After alot of measuring, shifting, and some time thinking (Drinking), I got it to fit.

Re: 72 c/20 "The Orange Machine 3"

I knew that things would be tight but things ar alot closer than I thought. I have about a 1/2" to 3/4" at any of the closest points.
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]
The motor mounts aren't anything special but they work. I did not want any give in the mount but I did not want them to be solid.

Re: 72 c/20 "The Orange Machine 3"

Balancer on and it clears the front cross member.
[IMG][/IMG]

Now it was time to test fit the radiator. On to installing the front clip.

I hated to have to buy all new sheet metal but I wanted to not have any rust on this thing. The only thing about new is this stuff fits like crap. It took alot of time from me and my body man to make things get close to fitting.

Re: 72 c/20 "The Orange Machine 3"

Motor and transmission are in.

The nv4500 shift tower sets about 4 to 5" back further than stock but will not hit the seat. It just makes it tougher for the center person to set.

Made a HD transmission cross member to help hold the weight and it also sets closer to the rear of the truck. The front driveshaft will be shortened and adapted to fit the dodge yolk out of the transmission.

Re: 72 c/20 "The Orange Machine 3"

Intercooler installed. Found it on ebay for cheap, 3" in and out, and 3" charge tubes.

It's rated for 1000 hp and 60 psi. It dose well with the power add-on's I have right now.
Hard to make it get over 1000* on the egt guage.

Radiator and intercooler are in. Not much room for the fan's to fit have about 3/4" between them and the motor.

Picture of the grill and bumper with some fresh paint.

I was not sure about the black but now I think that it's going to look great.

Newly covered seat ready to go back in.

Re: 72 c/20 "The Orange Machine 3"

New dash came in and looks like this.

Not sure if I like the cheap plastic guage pod but it looks okay.

Guages for the bags and the pyro and boost guage.

Re: 72 c/20 "The Orange Machine 3"

While I was working on the dash I also got a call that the rest of the parts were painted. Getting close to being on the road.

Grill shell back together.
On the truck it goes. The hard thing was to decide what buckets to use.
Black or crome

I ended up going with the Black it ties it all together better.

Re: 72 c/20 "The Orange Machine 3"

Got the bed back and on. It turned out great! The floor wasn't the best but the raptor liner turned out great and helped hide the inperfections in the floor.

Batery and air dog II on the drivers side.

Air compressor and air tank on the pass. side.

A view of the finished bed.

Re: 72 c/20 "The Orange Machine 3"

Three years from the start almost to the same month I drove it from the shed to the drive for its first bath. What a feeling! I think that it turned out great and hope you all like it.

Thanks for looking.

Re: 72 c/20 "The Orange Machine 3"

It turned out awesome! Be careful with that aluminum intercooler tubing and all those junctions and clamps. You will probably have issues blowing boots. And ditch that fram oil filter! Other than that, it looks sweet! I didn't think your wheels would look very nice on there, but they actually look awesome on it!

Re: 72 c/20 "The Orange Machine 3"

Thanks Ryan. I agree with you on the wheels it was one of the toughest things to decide on. Tube kit was cheap and yes I think I will have trouble with all the boots but it is holding even with burst of 40 psi. I would like to bend some 3" tube up to get rid of all the joints.(On the list of things to change) The Fram filter is coming off the truck, I will change it, just wanted to run it for the first few miles to get anything that might be left from the build up.
