The Vue RedLines are nice......most of the guys on my Saturn forum love them. The Honda V6 is a plus, but they aren't very truck like...more like a cool looking minivan that sits higher. But unless your wife plans to be going off road or towning it shouldn't be a problem.

I live in Gunnison,I'm sure you know what the winters are like here. Anyway, my wife drives a FWD Citation everywhere and never had any problems, so in my opinion, all wheel drive is not necessary. Didn't Chevy come out with a PT Cruiser look alike this year?If I remember correctly, the Vue Redline actually uses a Toyo motor, almost the same rig as a Matrix. Good luck , just give her a price ceiling and let her go. If you influence her decision, and the vehicle has problems, guess whose fault it will be!

The Equinox also comes with the Chevy bow tie on the front and rear too. The Saturn doesn't have that option.

I would go with the Saturn. It's Honda powered.

Hey guys...went and looked at both the Chevy Equinox and The Saturn Vue....and "She" decided she would rather have the Electric Blue FWD Vue, not the ALL Wheel Drive. It is my understanding that you get the same V-6 Honda engine whether buy the regular Vue or the Redline Vue. We both liked the look of the regular Vue over the $3000.00 more expensive Redline model. So the next spet is to drive one...I'll keep ya all posted...and thanks again for all you guys/gals help.

I HIGHLY recommend the Silverado SS. I bought an '04 in October and it is NICE!. Heated Seats plus about everything else, too. And it is fairly quick. It is an extended-cab 4-door. Forget about gas mileage, though (it is a 6.0-liter, 345hp, 380ft. of torque. >5,000lb, pickup truck). Also, don't let her drive one unless you would buy it, though. One test drive and you both will want one.

Well....if it was my choice she'd be in a 71' or 72' Chevy Blazer ,lifted 4", some badazz tires and a 1000 watt premier stereo...oh yah I'd add some aftermarket seat heaters for her. But this wife of mine is not into driving a truck...nothing I can do about that, either you like a truck or you don't. I've got two of the 67-72 trucks right now, so if she deals with me and my 67-72 truck addiction (cause I am buying more)...she can have the vehicle she wants...fine by me! I do appreciate all your input...you guys and gals are the best!

Probably a little late, but I will add my 2 cents...My wife wanted an SUV for the family and we did the whole dealer thing too...Had to have 4wd, 3rd seat and have a least some Towing capacity. ( the last requirement was mine...)

We ended up buying a very nice USED 2500 Suburban. SLT fully loaded ( with heated seats!! ) right at 40K miles, and it was under 15K. Just my thoughts, I wouldn't buy some of those over priced mid sized SUV's. The Equinox that was on the floor where we bought the Sub, was over 30K!!!!

After you factor in sales tax + depreciation, I highly recommend a mildly used F/S SUV. I know I will have somethjing worth owning LONG after I am through making payments. Can't say I would feel that way about the new ones...

A few people said Hummer, but no one mentioned the H3, built on the Colorado platform. I think this would be an awesome rig. Much less bulky than the H2 in looks, and it's the cheapest Hummer money can buy. Somewhere around $30,000 USD, Spring of '05.

# Powered by a Vortec 3.5L inline five-cylinder engine that delivers 220 horsepower at 5600 rpm and 225 lb.-ft. of torque at 2800 rpm.

# Projected to get up to 20 miles per gallon of gas.

# The first HUMMER to offer the choice of a manual or an automatic transmission.

# Electronically controlled four-wheel-drive with a fully locking rear differential, traction control, underbody shielding and GM's StabiliTrak vehicle stability enhancement system.

# The H3 can ford 16 inches of water at 20 mph or 24-inch streams at 5 mph pace. HUMMER says it can climb 16-inch vertical steps and rocks.

# Your choice of two tire packages, a Goodyear 32-inch all-terrain tire or Bridgestone 33-inch.

# Heated leather seats

# Front bucket seats and 60/40 split rear seats

# Electric sliding sunroof

# DVD-based navigation radio

# Four audio systems, all compatible with GM's OnStar system and optional XM Satellite Radio

# Power windows and door locks with lockout protection

# Electric rear window defogger

# Outside power-adjustable manually folding rearview mirrors

# Self-dimming rearview mirror with compass and outside temperature indicator

# Three 12-volt, covered auxiliary power outlets (two in front, one in the cargo area).

Hummers are garbage. you want an H2? buy a 2500 SIlverado, you get the exact same truck, it just looks better, and is half the price. they're selling them based on the "capability" of the civi-H1, which was sold on the actual capability of the military version. i friend of mine had an H1 when i was in high school, we went out to her place one afternoon, and upon pulling into the driveway she sunk it in about 6" of mud, it was dead in its tracks. i drove around it in my C10 with 235 75 R 15 street tires, hooked on, and had to pull it free from the muck that i had just driven through to get past. go to www.hummer.com and check out the specs. nothing at all to write home about.

Whether a good thought or not...this lil' chic of mine would NEVER even consider a HuMMer vehicle...just too big for her.

Yeah, that's why I said H3, and not H2. It's much smaller. After standing next to one at the Edmonton Motor Show, I'd say it's about the same size or smaller than a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Go for the VUE, they use the J35A2 motor from honda. FANTASTIC engine. Used in the odessey minivan for a while now. The J series motors can take anything you throw at them. I seriously abused [full throttle almost constantly] a 3.0L version [J30A1] for 90,000miles before I rolled the car and that motor still purred like day one, you couldn't even tell it was running it was so quiet and smooth.

As for the rest of the VUE, I have no idea. But that motor is sweet. Plus you can pull other stock J series motor parts and have that puppy up to 275hp easy

We're happy with the Vue that my wife drives. My only complaint is that it seems a bit underpowered, but ours doesn't have the Honda motor.
The service dept. at our dealer has been fantastic when we needed work done, and Saturn sells all kinds of cool accessories for their vehicles (although they're a little pricey).
I'd say we'll be driving Saturns for a while to come, and I'd recommend them to anyone.
