Re: t5 troubles...?

you have to grind the grooves in the splines on the input shaft back about 3/8 to 1/2 in. I put the disc on the shaft till it won't go any further. I mark where it stops & pull it back off. Then i grind the grooves with a die grinder or cuttoff wheel. Try the disc till it will slide back far enough from the marks. You have to remove the brg retainer & cover the front of the trans. to keep the fillings out.

Re: t5 troubles...?

brad- the clutch for the 87 s10 was too small, so i found a shop that made a 10in 14 spline clutch. only difference is the diameter, same amnt of splines etc.

Heavy70- it is mechanical.

thanks for the advice. we took the pressure plate, clutch, and throwout bearing to a driveline shop today, they put it on a machine (not sure what it was), and it was all compatible. i think ive found the problem though, the z bar on the clutch linkage seems to be hitting the header, not letting it engaging/disengaging all the way, so ill have to modify it. i think thats what it is, not for sure, but i will be able to nail down an awnser tomorrow.

Re: t5 troubles...?

we found the problem. it wasnt the clutch, pressure plate, or throwout bearing. the clutch linkage had to be adjusted...alot. and the z bar was hitting a header, so we took the bottom part of it, cut it moved it over about 3 inches and welded it back so it could press freely. thanks for your help.
