Re: impala rear disc???
So to sum things up, do certain rearends and/or axles need a specific bracket thickness? I'm kind of confused from this thread. If so, Glock, can you post what situations need what bracket thickness?

Re: impala rear disc???
My Rearend is a 71. You need to radius the outside corners the same as the inside of the rotor. Plus you need to get the outside lip of the parking brake drum cut off on a brake lathe so that the rotor does not hit the backing plate on trucks that have a lot of axle walk. My caliper bracket bolt holes are 1/2 sae thread and you need to drill out the caliper bracket bolt holes a little for the 1/2" bolts to go through.

Re: impala rear disc???
Couldn't you just mill the mounting area 3/16 and leave the bracket 3/8 thick? also for the mounting bolts couldn't you use button head allen bolts? Just a thought.

Re: impala rear disc???
I would also be interested in a set of these brackets. How much are they?

Re: impala rear disc???
Lance - They sell for $50 a set with hardware, which will include new/different bolts for the OEM bracket to fix that clearance issue. I still have some 3/8" brackets, and will have 3/16" brackets soon.
I might have to try that on a set, to mill the area that mounts to the flange down to 3/16".

Re: impala rear disc???
I put mine on last night and the same thing happened with mine. I am going to try and go to the parts store today and see if I can come up with a bolt that will work. I am not mad at you Glock these kinda things happen and if they are going to happen it will always be to me. I will let you know what I come up with.
Thanks |

Re: impala rear disc???
Thank you for understanding Kade. And like I said earlier, I will replace ANY and ALL of those that will not work with the new, thinner brackets. I do have the thinner ones in the process of being made as we speak, and hope to have them ready to go by the end of the week.

Re: impala rear disc???
For me, I need to buy new axels to go from 6 to 5 lug, so If I buy the 72 5-lugs, it sounds like the brackets'll work? I like the thick flange bracket, but since the stock flange is thinner metal, Glock I may need two sets of thin for the two thicks I got? LMK, no hard feeling, glad I saw this before I went out and had to throw stuff!!

Re: impala rear disc???
You might still be able to use the 3/8" brackets if you are using the earlier (shorts) rear end housing with later 72 (longer) axles. But if you still have a clearance issue with the thicker 3/8" brackets, i will send you a set of the 3/16" brackets no problem.

Re: impala rear disc???
I hope I didn't open up a can of worms on this thread I took my rotors to the machine shop today to have that lip on the back taken off. As much as we all like a bolt on product it looks like to me that it would be a good idea to remove the inner lip on the rotors as 383stroker said just because it is so tight back there. The machinist said it would be a simple process to take it off. He offered to do it while I wait even.

Re: impala rear disc???
Keep in mind, and you should be able to confirm this once you have the thinner brackets, but you should gain another 3/16" clearance from the bolt head to that lip with the thinner brackets. Since they are 3/16" thinner, the head should set in another 3/16" away from the rotor.
I think
