Re: keep rear sliding glass or go 1 piece?

Not much to add here. In the desert airflow is everything. Rember a few summers when my truck didn't have a back window all summer long, except for a trip or two down to LA. A/C and sliders have become my friends. Actually I almost always have a window open or the tops off.

To each his own I guess. Personally, I like a slider and hate driving a truck without one. I have always had sliders in my trucks (it makes it easier to throw trash from the cab into the bed) and prob always will...

Originally built by my Dad & Brother in late 90's early 00's. I bought the truck in summer of 11; dad & brother put new box sides on, and surprised me with a new paint job. Jan of 12 the float stuck in the carb and she burned... The truck is back in MI now and being re-built AGAIN by my Dad & Brother.

Re: keep rear sliding glass or go 1 piece?

Who sells the CR Laurance electric sliders? A/C won't be happening on my truck for awhile. Certainly not before this summer. Anything I can do to help ventilate the Truck would be cool.

Another thought... I remember seeing a truck that had a one piece plexiglas or plastic rear window that was mounted solidly in the center and would flex to pop open near the sides of the cab. Anyone know if someone makes something like this for our trucks?

As I recall it was made also by CR Laurance. It came out about 1980 and was 1/8" tempered glass. Attached in the center, with van window/sunroof pop out latches at each end. Here is a picture if someone who wants to recycle the idea. About the same time they introduced a verticle opening electric rear window for the square bodies then current.

Re: keep rear sliding glass or go 1 piece?

Its funny, earlier in this thread I asked what was a C.R. Laurence slider? Today while tossing branches in the back of my truck I noticed a sticker on my slider that I had never even looked at before. Seems I have a C.R. Laurence slider in my truck ... LOL

I like the sliders myself. Me and heat don't play well, even here in upstate NY. My '71 GMC doesn't have on yet, but hauling my firewood may get it done

I like the slider but the PO screwed up the install/gasket. Need to go Precision.
