Neat truck! Not for nuthin', you might wanna check out the "Fast and Loud" where they built one similar. Yes, they're goofs, but you might catch some ideas.

they used the CV front ifs clip on the Fast n Loud dodge build

Hmm... I thought they were the same til 87? By the same I mean the same crossmember. I know for sure that in 73 they went to a little different style I the pivot bars for both upper and lower a arms but others then that I think there the same..

I found a 75 dodge tradesman van I the same lot where my dodge is and I'm gonna try and talk to the guy and see if maybe he will let me cut off the front frame portion and suspension to use for the dodge. I was on the sweptline forum and apparently it should work.

don't use the van setup. if ya want to clip it, find and early dodge 72-79 truck as I believe are the same bolt pattern

Ok cool I'm kinda holding off on the front suspension as I don't know really where to get that entire clip at the moment and if I did I don't have the funds for something like that so instead I'm gonna do the rear suspension I need to rob a c10 for these parts: trailing arms, 12 bolt axle, trac bar, trailing arm crossmember and the little bracket rickets to the frame for the trac bar and then the dodge frame will be modified to except those parts, once I get it all together and I can set the back of the truck on wheels again I'm gonna check how much the heavy dodge sags the springs so that way I can order the correct drop coils.

one thing with using an ifs clip from a chevy or the dodge is that the steering box is mounted on the outside of the frame. the stock steering is on the inside of the frame behinds the axle, so it mean doing alittle extra to hook up the column no matter which one you are gonna use. CV set is fairly straight forward to bolt in to the frame. I have seen others use areostar setups also as the bolt in too, but need to do the bracket to rotate the angle of the rack towards the cab, either of these setups the rack is bolted in front of the cross member. another one is also a jag, weld or bolt in, rack is behind the crossmember, but it does have the chevy 4 3/4 bolt pattern with larger diameter studs. and to use a normal chevy wheel the jag hub will have to be turned down for the center to clean and be mounted flush. it all comes down to the budget, what wheels you would to run and have the same bolt pattern. just my .02 thrown I here not that its really worth that even.lol

but now understand it has a larger diameter brake setup so will have to run
16" or larger wheels, not sure of offset tho. best bet would be is get the rear and m/c setup also. this pic has the cv setup on it with the police style wheels

wouldn't see why it shouldn't work. you may have to move the spring perches to line up in the springs. see if ya measure track width of the rear, a stock truck one is around 62.5

backing plate measures just shy of 55" and the wheel mounting surface is the 62.5

Well I measured the dodge van leaf springs and they are way wider then on the dodge... So I either need to weld the leaf spring plates on in the right spot or not use that axle... What's your opinion?

id take into consideration to the gear ratio, what front suspension you want to use, what M/T combo and if the truck is just going to be a driver or a workhorse/tow rig

Well this truck has to be able to go trips and haul some engines around and haul 6 people and it has to do a good burnout lol I'm not a super crazy burnout guy and I don't even roast the tires very much I just like to know that in the event that I want to do a burnout that I can lay down a good one but what car/truck guy doesn't? lol so im thinking a 3.73 12 bolt posi will be a big step maybe even a 3.55 gear ratio if I could . And maybe a 700r for a trans the engine however... If I could I would do a 5.7 or even 4.8 LS with a Holley terminator EFI but one I think that's gonna be way to much money for me right now so I'm thinking something simple like a smallblock 350

You should consider the Dodge dakota IFS for the frontend. These guys have a well considered kit they build. Industrial Chassis
My vote would be for a Dodge in a Dodge for engine choice. 318 or 360, lots of tasty parts available these days.

id be partial to keeping it all Dodge myself. as far as parts tho most are double the price of a chevy. if going with a GM driveline, 350/400 th with a a 3:07/8-3:43/55 gears out back. I had my share of chevy's with either an inline 6 or V8 most with either 350 or 400th's and 3:07's worked great decent mileage and still had great towing/hauling capabilities. my 70 has the 318/727 with 3:23 rear, good cruiser and hauling combo and keeping all.

That sounds perfect! I like the idea of a 400 trans and I don't mind trying out my luck with a dodge drive train but as you said there pretty expensive compared to GM and I already know smallblocks real good and I know bunches of places I could go to get help or parts for the smallblocks and I can find replacements real easy so therefore I chose the GM drivetrain

I was speaking more in the terms of performance parts, but actually looking around the internet prices aren't that far off as they use to be. honestly if the 318 in my 70 wouldnt sound and run as good as it does id throw in a GM driveline also. I don't need big muscle in my rides as they are daily drivers and do want decent fuel mileage in case I do take it on a long trip somewhere. and if you happen to a chevy m/t sitting around looking for a new home im all for the budget build.
