That looks great. Cant believe you're ditching the fleetside and the two tone though. Although, a bright red stepside will look really killer. Cant wait to see it together.

Man your truck looks Sweet! I love the cowl hoods!
I've got a couple of questions
1. What size are your tires?
2. Will the red bed match the cab?
I thought everything had to be painted at the same time...

LOL! It wasn't all painted at the same time when it was NEW!

Depending on the plant, the cab and box would be painted at one end of the plant and the front end sheetmetal was painted at the other end (perhaps on a different day).

Still wasn't as bad as Buicks in Flint, though: the bodies were painted on one end of town and then trucked through the city to the assembly plant.

K

(although these are true I'm just busting ya' chops a bit....)

LOL!

Looks great, John.

You might get a kick out of my build thread (link located in my signature).

In my case I had to have the paint shop turn it around fast, because it's my daily driver. They did what they said they would do - in and out in a week.

At any rate, take a look and then we can "commiserate"....some of it might look familiar.

I thought everything had to be painted at the same time...

15x10's on the back w/275/60-15's and 15x8's on the front w/235/70-15's. I have no doubt the bed will match. My paint guy painted the doors and hood off the truck at a different time than the cab. Don't know why though. I have had him do a couple touch up jobs on my 92 and couldn't tell where old and new met. The box is yellow so he has to take it apart and paint it then put it back together and paint it again he said. Also the bed sides although rust free had pop'ed the weld on the curl meets the stake.

Thanks for the comps guys.

John

Curious to know how we're mounting Corvette rally's to a pickup...isn't the bolt circle different?

Did you sell the fleetside bed?

I will have to get you some pictures of Dad's truck(The '84 you sold us) it looks totally different now. The '82 you also sold me still looks the same.

Your truck looks real good..keep us posted on the progress.

Hey 89BLAZ,

That 84 is what got me started on these square bodies. It has the motor from this truck. Yeah I sold the bed. Didn't want to as my brother has this plan on building a 1-ton crew short wheel 4cyl diesel but I had to recoup money spent on my stepside. A board member has it now.

locab36,

Yeah we pulled the motor and put in a fresh 350, 89-91 core support, gm doors and fenders and fresh maroon paint. I will have to get you some picts.

Your truck looks real good..I like the rallys painted to match.

Re: 86 Shortbed on its way to paint :-)

Updated pics. Just got the bed back yesterday. Been busy getting the glass, power windows and locks installed. Bought an alarm w/keyless entry I need to hook up yet. Not happy w/the polyurathane dash I bought from Brothers, terrible fit. Will paint a good stock one and put one of the dash carpets on it instead. Gotta get the carpet finished and seats back before I can start driving. I will coat the inside of the bed w/black bedliner.
