Re: Trim or no Trim
Stock or resto-rod, trim. Full on custom, no trim. Year doesn't matter.

Re: Trim or no Trim
I'm building a daily driver, not a show truck, so I'll most likely go with trim on the bottom and pinstripe on the top. I would do a show truck differently but besides a mild drop and shortened frame, this will be somewhat stock.

On my '69, which came new with the upper and lower side trim, I plan to remove both. If forced to have any trim on it, I'd prefer the '68 trim, even though I have a '69. But, I won't remove one type, to install another. Instead, I'll just pull it all, fill the holes and go on with my painting plan.

you might as well ask: Do you like the sweet, smooth look without trim, or do you like the junky, clunky, crappy look of trim? if you're trying to make a decision, it sounds like you've already made it. if you're just asking, that's different. it's a lot easier for beat up trim to make a truck look bad than one without trim. for it to really look good with trim, the trim has to be in very good shape. i like trim for a resto, smooth for custom. until the trim gets wrapped up in the spinning brushes of an automatic car wash (damned speedy wash...) |

Re: Trim or no Trim
No trim at all. After awhile it will sag down and become misaligned, and if your going to use your 4x4 as a 4x4, then no doubt your trim will become out of place.

Re: Trim or no Trim
Here's a pic of my stock height '71 4x4. Came with the lower trim but after looking at trying to find affordable upper and lower trim decent enough to go with new paint I decided to remove the trim completly. Consider it a daily drivr except for the gas mileage.

Re: Trim or no Trim
I am going with no trim on mine. When I stripped off the trim I found lots of rust hiding behind it.

Re: Trim or no Trim
2 tone, trim it. Otherwise, no trim. I am removing all the trim from my Blazer and I had NOS pieces to put back on it.
