Re: production numbers 4x4

Be interested to know rpo numbers on 4x4 trucks. I bought my '72 Chev K20 4x4 in Montana in 2007. Imported to Canada and may have 600 miles on it in 12 years. New paint, tires / rims, interior, SBC, spray in box liner. Options include Super Cheyenne trim, interior, T4 paint, tach, tilt column, cab marker lights, trailer wiring, sliding rear window, dual fuel tanks. Was definitely bought to haul a truck camper and used for vacation. Still running 410's with th350 auto.

Re: production numbers 4x4

There are a few still kicking around. Ours is original mechanicals save for hubs, wear items and paint, needs oem wheels. Even has the vac lockout on dist vac advance, (CA only?), exh damper, heat stove and spark plug heat shields.
I believe the wheels are jimmy or blazer? Interior redone. Need to tighten up the mechanicals as a few of the seals weep. V8 NP205 and SM465.
I use her on our land with occasional jaunts to town.
Got to love the armstrong steering, big manual brakes and 4x4 low in 1st gear.

Re: production numbers 4x4

I have an original 68 GMC K 10 , 4x4 step side short box , I have been told fewer than 500 ever made . I was at car show talking to an gmc salesman from that era , I ask him were I could get an original owners manual for tha truck . His comment to me was , they never made that truck ! Well I said we'll I have one and he was shocked he had never heard of it
I am in the process of restoring it now. Some things will not be original to the truck , like the v6 engine , the odd ball leaf springs they came with .

I've "heard" estimates that put GMC production at 3 or 4 trucks for every 10 Chevy's. I guess we'll never really know for sure.

Re: production numbers 4x4

I purchased a 1970 4WD in Virginia 5 years ago for my son. It's a long wide bed, 350 auto truck. A month ago I bought 2 1969 trucks, 1 4WD and a 2WD for parts. I plan on rebuiding the 4WD for myself as a daily driver. I can't afford the newer trucks and I also can't work on them. I don't have a Doctorate in Computer Science. I guess I'm getting contrary in my older years. I want a truck that is a truck, not a luxury car with half a pickup bed on it. I call those "Dog food trucks". The only thing they are good for is hauling dog food.
