My anti-theft system consists of a clutch and 3 speed column shifter. It works in most cases.

Re: Your theft protection setups

Battery disconnect under the hood with a heavy stainless cable through the hood holes down under front of core support all wrapped up with a heavy gauge lock so you would have a hard time getting a blot cutter up in there.

Thieves will stop at nothing, but you can slow them down.

Is anyone familiar with the "theft proof batteries" that came out a while back?

Re: Your theft protection setups

I don't want to be a downer but if someone wants your truck it's there's. Especially when you can open the hood from outside run a wire from the battery to the coil and jump the starter and you have yourself a running driving truck minus lights. A fuel cutoff is good but it's possible for the vehicle to die in the middle of traffic and cause a wreck. The best I've come up with is building a lock plate on the steering shaft that you use a regular lock on so steering is taken care of. Then it can't be towed away either. Or a way to lock it into high gear for those using manual transmissions.

Revival of the dead!

I do find the gun comments commical, as though 24/7 you're awake and have direct line-of-sight on your truck.

Re: Your theft protection setups

So far my method is a manual choke that at best you have to know exactly where to set it and a carburetor that if you pump the gas it floods so bad its not starting for a few minutes. And if they get it started good luck finding any gears with my sloppy shifter. Oh and if by now you did not readjust the choke it just died...

I like to dump the airbags down and take my accuair controller with me in my pocket. It would be tough to drive away and they for sure couldn't steer. It also looks good.

I don't have line of sight to my truck 24/7. I do not need that. The truck is in the garage and my dog is a very light sleeper.

Name calling is childish and a great way to take a long walk off a short pier around these forums.

I suppose you bring your garage, guns, and dog with you when you drive your truck and have never left it in a parking lot.

...lol. This is what I was thinking too....chaining yourself for life to the steering wheel with a weapon in your hand...hopefully they've made an additional investment in a colostomy bag with a good helper to empty it.

Insure your truck for what its worth, take some reasonable measures like a club and/or a kill switch and get on with your life...its all good.

Re: Your theft protection setups

My thought on this subject is to insure it for a little over what you would sell it for under "agreed upon value" thru classic car insurance. Move on with life, and cross that bridge when you get there. Not gonna stay awake at night worrying about what Might happen someday.

Thumbs up Re: Your theft protection setups

Late model S-10 floor shifter has the brake solenoid where you have to step on the brake to get it out of park. I just have a switch on it to kill it. Not the best but I like it. I've owned my truck 30 years in March 2016. Its been on 2 Hot Rod Power Tours and all over the south east when I had to work out of town. Never lost sleep over it in a motel lot.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

A 1/2 inch 5 shot group at 100 yards says I am. And, the dog weighs 130 pounds . How fast can YOU run wearing a 130 pound necktie?

Definitely the guns and dog (I usually leave the long guns in the truck). If I get really worried I roll up the windows when I have to park in town. Maybe someday I'll get the door locks re-keyed so I can actually lock the doors - but probably not.
