Re: Weird options

One pretty rare option seems to be the shoulder belts...which I guess just had not caught on back in that era.
...I wouldn't mind a set of those.

You mean the types with two belt buckles? My truck had them but my FiL removed the shoulder straps. That made it handy when I went to 3-point seat belts from LMC. Nothing on the SPID about it, though.

Not odd, but adds to the uniqueness of the truck was the factory flatbed added to all that. There are rare options and there are odd options. I consider this odd to go through specially outfitting a 3/4t to have the dual wheels and a flatbed while not upgrading the rear suspension to leaf when you could just buy a 1t with heavier frame and suspension.

There aren't really any options I'd consider odd (that I can think of), more like odd combos. That is where my interests lay with these trucks.
I parted this one out many years ago. It did have spot lights, and the seats were the sport style but with the plain jane covers on them. I can't remember if we determined these were factory spotlights or the options were for something else. I thought the HD buckets seats were the wide metal back ones.

They are delco alternators. Part number 1117767. The one on the right is new in the gm box. Available between 64 and 69 I think.

Re: Weird options

I worked as a mechanic for 25 years and never saw one. Don't know if that makes it weird, or just really rare.

Re: Weird options

This build sheet is from a 50th 'Burb, ordered with 17.5" tires. The guy told me he did that so all his trucks around the farm would have the same size wheels.

How rare was the factory sliding back window?

What does the factory paint stripe look like? Mine was repainted when I got it.

Re: Weird options

This is my Weird Option

The Phantom Truck

One that most people and even the places that sell parts for the LONGHORN truck.

They say they came out in 1969.

That was wrong if there is a will there is a way.

Seen them as far back as 1967.

But i have a 1968 Longhorn 396-400 AC power every thing No doors or locks or windows. But the normal Power

Re: Weird options

Your loaded SWB K-10 is the rarity here rather than any of its individual options. You OR/WA guys sure have it kicked with drool-inducing 67-72s sitting in front of every other house. Seriously, congrats on a nice truck.

That's how the SWB Highlander I had came through. That was a good example of odd combinations. It was a Highlander but had solid paint, not the deluxe 2-tone. It also had a 3spd trans, so no tilt or automatic.

I guess the spotlights are a rare option. I had seen them on the SPID of emergency vehicles but can't recall seeing on anything else, and they are also an accessory offered through the dealerships.

Will they fit the common bracketry?

Looks like a 20DN, common alternator on 60's era GMC 5500-8500 trucks, but extremely rare on light duty trucks. Saw a few similar Delco's on Caterpillar and other construction equipment.

They used different brackets than the regular Delco 10DN. Probably tough to find for a small or big block Chevy but easy for a GMC V-6!
