Re: H2 wheels with GMC center caps?
Also, what is this about me needing conversion lug nuts?

Re: H2 wheels with GMC center caps?
I know that's what you meant, and there are a lot of import caps on ebay. There are also many previously silver genuine H2 wheels that have been chromed. So, be careful unless that doesn't bother you. They are different.

Re: H2 wheels with GMC center caps?
I could be wrong, but I don't think these were chrome from the factory. At least the set I bought look to have been chromed after the fact.
Don't forget the lug nuts with the correct tapered snout and the "shoulder" threads for the fake black plastic lug nuts in the center cap, they screw down onto them. I wound up getting everything except the wheels studs and the spacers I needed to clear the Dana60 off eBay. As a side benefit it (in my case) brings the rear track width out a bit, making it closer to the front. Why they had a narrower rear track than up front I cannot imagine. What possible advantage could there be? Stability? Beats me. In my case, as mentioned in the post before mine, I needed 9/16" lug nuts because I had converted to '72 front discs, and post-70 parts are the larger lug stud. If you had all 1970 equipment I don't know if you could stick with 1/2" studs on these wheels. That'd be a good thing to know, maybe FirstOwner69 can speak to that.

Re: H2 wheels with GMC center caps?
Wow, by far the best looking looking "modern" option I've seen for the 8 luggers.
Dave, your trucks looks awesome!

Re: H2 wheels with GMC center caps?
H2 wheels were available in chrome or alloy type finish. I bought stock chrome factory wheels.
By conversion lugs I mean to be able to adapt to the external threads to mount the center caps. Since I did a front disc conversion I had to use 9/16" in front and 1/2" in rear. No big deal. I have Eaton HO52 corporate rear end. No problem fitting center caps on the rear.

Re: H2 wheels with GMC center caps?
Plastic is correct. However, your caps appear to be aftermarket.

Re: H2 wheels with GMC center caps?
Yeah, I did. And they are aftermarket, made in Taiwan. Got them for $95, official Chevy parts had them almost $80 for one unit. Did you guys find them somewhere for cheaper?

Re: H2 wheels with GMC center caps?
Got mine on ebay for $112 a couple years ago. GM in a 4-pack. The other day I saw the same for $140 http://www.ebay.com/itm/321537686276...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT . My guess is that the GM caps are not as plentiful now. Therefore, the higher price.

Wonder if there are any other options for center caps for these wheels? I love the bowtie in the cap, but would also be fine with something all chrome, something really simple

Re: H2 wheels with GMC center caps?
Here's a picture of 1988-2000 caps on the 2001-2007 wheels our caps were made for. Not sure how deep they are, but if they fit the 2001-2007 Chevy/GMC wheels, I'd bet, at least diameter-wise, they'd fit the H2s.

Re: H2 wheels with GMC center caps?
Update:
Went ahead and bought the Cooper Discoverer's from Discount Tire. Very impressed with the tread, price ($730 out the door), and Discount's customer service. Excited to see these mounted as my build up develops! PROFILE VIEWS TREAD COMPARISON (to what was on the truck)

Re: H2 wheels with GMC center caps?
Anyone found center caps that work with a 67-72 K-20? That is, having access to the front locking hubs and large caps that accommodate the rear hubs?

Re: H2 wheels with GMC center caps?
Dually caps, you will need a 4” or so hole saw to cut the center out of the front.

Re: H2 wheels with GMC center caps?
I had a 14 bolt full floater on my crew cab build while starting the build. I also cut the centers out of the front caps when I wound up using them on my 1 ton 4x4.
