I go both ways depending on the situation.
For a 6 cylinder truck, a stepside is a manditory part of the look. A short fleetside is awesome as a street machine.

All of my 4x4's are fleets, so I wanted a step. Got one, now I want a short fleet too. It's like a disease. They're all great trucks.
