Yup....once you feel the power of an LT1 backed up by 4.10 gears you will change your mind....even in a heavy 3/4 truck it should still haul.

Camaro's are cool....but i LOVE hot-rodded old pickups, especially somethign different like a GMC C20....that is a very uniuqe truck.

Just about every Camaro you see will be a hot rod....hot rod GMC's are very different, will attract lots of attention, and are cool.

Not to mention cheaper insurance on the truck....how are they going to know that it is a hotrod? Truck insurance is about as cheap as you can get, especially with the high insurance rates you will have as a 16 year old. It would be much more expensive to drive the Camaro.

i think the biggest thing i dont like about my truck is that its an automatic, im kicking my self for buying the TCI trans and stall converter insted of an m20/m22 or a richmond i REALLY want a standard shift vihicle bad i dont know what to think -kyle

I think you will like the auto once you get it going! It would probably be less apt to break and a little quicker in the long run.

If this is your first project/vehicle....DO NOT SELL IT!! I am 23 and my first vehicle (my black '68, which I bought when I was 15 and still have and drive all the time), got me started where I am today, working as a mechanic/customizer at a high volume classic car garage. I come close to selling it every once and awhile, but I keep hearing from every old timer that comes in, or every classic car owner that they wish more than anything that they could still have their very first car or project back and never to sell mine....and damn it, every single one of them is right!! I point to the parking lot or tell them about how I still have mine and they envy the hell out of me. I have boughten cars since then, but will never let go of my first. Modify it if you want something different, hell let it sit if you are tired of it and save for something else, but DON'T SELL IT! Take it from me, I work on first-generation camaros all day long, they are awesome and all, but have been done to death. 67-72 Chevy/GMC's are completely unique...just ask ANYONE who owns one!! It'll get there man! Just keep working on it...I promise. Thats just my opinion on the matter...

Douglas.

P.S.-Once that auto tranny snaps you back in your seat when shifting you will appreciate that bad boy...oh yah and the fact that you wont scatter the clutch if you get a little nuts with it! heh.

Kyle, you did good work on that truck. I have owned mine since i was 16 (now 19) and i don't ever plan to get rid of it. It was with me all through high school, and is now with me in college too.

Every old guy i have talked too has said the same thing; "Boy, i used to have an old (insert truck year here). I really wish i still had that thing, don't ever sell yours!".

Of course i have heard the same thing about Chevelles, Camaro's, Roadrunners, Mustangs, ect, but you get the jist.

I agree on the auto tranny...you will proably like it alot more than a manual. Not to mention a properly set up automatic with a shift kit and high stall converter, which you already have, will actually be faster than a manual tranny in the same vehicle because you can't shift faster than the machine can. A manual tranny is fun, but so is an automatic with a street/strip shiftkit
