Re: New monster

Well I finally got some better wheels and tires for the truck. All 16in wheels instead of the 16.5in wheels that were on it. Makes the truck look a hell of a lot better too. Also finally got a seat for it and a new dash.

Re: New monster

Guess I should update this thing. Aint much different on the truck, front end is almost done minus a grille. The motor runs good, just gotta get an exhaust leak fixed and a new dist in it. Im working on fiberglassing the gauge bezel right now, gonna install some aftermarket gauges.

Ill upload a vid of it running later on.

Easy to tell just by the lockouts. GM 60 never used that style, only Ford in a couple years.

But the truck looks great!!!! Put a nice flat bed on it, some diggers and drive the hell out of it...

My crew has pretty much the same style hubs on it & it's for sure a 60. Will try to get some pictures up in a bit.

Re: New monster

Not to start an argument, but I know for a fact that is a 44 and not a 60. I've messed with these trucks for a long time now, and can spot one a mile away....Also the pumpkin is too small...

Bout the only thing the hubs have in common is size. 44hd style (what is posted above) used a 3/8" allen while a 60 uses 1/4" or something small like that.

Re: New monster

The front looks like a 73-76 SRW DANA HD44, I have one off a 74 K20 on my 79 K10. The blue lock out knobs are Chevy, the Fords used the same lockouts but the knobs are red.

Re: New monster

They are for the 44hd's. Blue pre-72, yellow/mustard 73-76-ish, and Ford used red. I used to get them from a junkyard and sell them on ebay. Made pretty good bucks doing that. Dana 60 lockouts aren't really worth too much, in less they are original from the late 70s. Ford uses the same lockouts on their heavy 3/4s, uses the same wheel hub and rotor as a HP60.

Re: New monster

Well, I got blue on one side and red on the other....this truck was pieced together by the original owner. It has a half ton cab and front end, 3/4 ton frame, 3/4 ton front axle and a 1 ton rear axle.

Re: New monster

Sorry but I sold this one awhile back..decided I wanted to put all my money into one truck instead of 2 so I kept the one I liked the best and that's my 91 1/2 ton 2wd swb Silverado.
