I was talking to a friend of mine the other night and ended up bringing this bad boy home for $400. Its a 78 1 Ton Dually, its got a 350 with 4 speed w/granny low. Im gonna try to get her home today, she runs but needs a gas tank so me and my dad are gonna drag her home.

Re: New monster
The price is right. Especially if the winch works. The front bumper is probably worth $100 in scrap. What do you have planned for it?
Are they selling the Chevy II?

Re: New monster
Well most the cab needs to be rebuilt so Im gonna rebuild it. Then both fenders and doors are gonna be replaced. The winch on the front goes back to my friend, the front bumper will go to scrap with doors and fenders. The hood is in good shape but the hinges are shot, so I will get new ones here soon. I will probably find a bed for it cause I aint to keen on flat beds. As soon as I get the rust problem taken care of and get some new sheet metal for it I will have a more clear plan.

Re: New monster
Too bad it's got a 44 up front, but still a good score. I like lifted dually's with the single rear wheel style up front....

Re: New monster
Most likely a long box. But that truck is a cab and chassis, or at least the rear is.

Re: New monster
Well, here is a bit of an up-date. It runs now, Ive drove it a few times just up and down the street sitting on my lunch box. And this past weekend I painted her. Second ever paint job and my first time spraying enamel.

Re: New monster
I think you got a great deal, far better then the parts truck I bought which didnt run, (well it did start and then catch fire). Looks like a million bucks now compared to the first few pics althou I think it still was a very cool rig even then.

Re: New monster
that's a long bed. the rear tires stick out past the cab a good bit,so a dually bed will fit and look just fine on it. looks great

Re: New monster
Me and dad call it the beast lol. I love duallys period, my dream truck is a crew cab dually 2wd. How can I tell what kinda rear and front end is under this thing? And on the bed I decided to go with a flat bed.

You wouldn't happen to know all the ratios in the trans and in the rear?

Looks like a nice truck. I like the blue. I can't wait till I have the space to really dig into a restoration.

Re: New monster
If the front knuckles have ball joints its a dana 44, if it has king pins its a dana 60. Look at the top of the drivers side and you should see 4 bolts holding the steering arm on if its a 60. Count the bolts on the rear housing cover, should be a 14 bolt in the rear.
