That's crazy... I'm not too worried about it. I've seen the 8.5 10 bolts hold 550 rwhp with 1.6 60' That's about all I need and I'm pretty sure this will be fine with what I'm making right now. Huge difference between 550rwhp and 850!!!!!!!!!! What kinda et and mph are you running with that beast?

No telling some kids at a local speed shop seem to think the truck rears are stronger. Either way I think a girdled 12 bolt is more than enough to hold 500-600 rwhp. As long as you aren't DEAD hooking.

Here's the results on my actual breakage. See pic

I would have loved to see that truck burn up the 1/8 track, Great time , what was the speed?

The other night a new "Hemi" pulled up next to me. Well this dude kept staring at me and i was with my girl and all, so i couldnt NOT get on it a little bit. He nailed it at the light, so i rolled into the throttle in first and shifted at about 5000 and heard a loud thunk. Like the thunk you hear and all you see is dollar bill signs. Well i cruised home and was scared to mess with it. A few days later i dropped it off at the local rearend shop and he told me hes never seen a 9 inch grenade that bad. He asked me if i had shifted hard and i told him "well yeah, i got 500 HP!!" Well im lookin at about 1600 bones. Anyone wanna buy a 72?? (seriously)

That sucks it sounds like something was wrong before it came unglued. What is he wanting to put in it for 1600.00. That sounds High! You might want to get a second opinion. If the axles aren't broke you could mailorder a center section and install it yourself for less.

He wanted 1400 for a replacement 3rd member with a stock ford limited slip. thats out the door. I wanted richmond and a stronger posi so im about to call and find out how much. Im not TOO mechanically inclined. I mean i can do quite a bit of stuff in the garage but i dont think i could put a third member in.

I wouldn't build a third member but it would be hard to screw up installing one I'm sure you could get all the advise here from me and others, I'd call moser and get a price! Is the chunk itself broke or just the gears and posi unit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WAYY to much. djracer is on the money. Call Moser or Randy's Ring and Pinion and get a price from them. It should be at or under a 1000.

Moser advertises a "Bolt-In" third member kit. Now is it a bolt in i could do in my garage or do i have to have an engineering degree to do it?

Hey, FirstGen. How about some pics of that 6.0 sittn' in the engine bay. I'm assuming that it's ls1. We'll probably be goin' to Kennedale soon. My buddy has an ls1 camaro. I kinda want to see what my new crate motor will do. It's only the 330hp HO. But it'll be fun.
