hey thanks for the pics, the pics on hills website is what actually inspired me to build one. perhaps you are right on the bags, im probably just gonna go for it. trucks a long ways anyways i wont be driving it anytime soon.

as far as the tailgate. it was a factory gate that was bowed out so bad in the middle that i didnt know what to do with it as it bowed so abd in the center and the gaps on the ends would not line right so i spent a good few hous beating the $hit out of it with a hammer and dolly and end up opting just to weld it shut. the center of the gate was beat so bad once i got it back straight that it was going to be almost impossible to correct so i cut the center section out (where the original tailgate handle was) and cut the drivers side piece off and moved it over to the center and wleded a flat piece of 18 gauge over the rest to give that frenched chevrolet name plate effect. i wasnt sure what it would turn out to look like but id say it didnt come out to shabby. saved an abused old tailgate from the junker. =)

Yeah, I pulled that picture from Hill's site. The site does have a lot of decent shots. I've been curious if putting upper brackets, 2600 bags (filled at recommended ride height) and lower cups in place of the front spring raises or lowers the suspension (as compared to the stock springs). On Noack's truck, it looks like Hill cut out some of the spring pockets to lower the suspension. Looks like the crossmember, otherwise, remains in the stock location.

Judging by your pic, you can't tell that your gate was out of whack... looks straight on. BTW, the latest issue StreetTrucks (I believe) has a feature on another crewcab. They welded the gate, filled the taillights and installed a rollpan with slotted taillights. Your work on the gate looks real good.

Yeah. On these trucks, (Jason cuts) the upper spring pocket quite a bit (1.5-2"), typically only done for bags. One major issue with this method is that you cannot cut the upper spring pocket like this and still section the crossmember, there simply isn't enough material left to be strong. So basically, it just lays crossmember with spindle/bag/cut upper pocket (and removal of the stock inner fenders if large wheel/tire combo).

On the red SBCC in the pic, the pockets are not cut, hence the spindle/LCA combo.

On the same note, we've used the red CC to tow the Blue Blazer to shows for the last year, (lots of 2000+ round trips) w/o issue, and it has a ram jet 350 in it. It has now been retired to local shop truck duty, replaced by a toter.

I know in the Truckin writeup, they mentioned that he relocated the front crossmember up 2" and used 2" drop spindles. Looking at the engine pic (steering shaft), it didn't look like the crossmember was relocated. The progress pics on Hill's site also show otherwise and what you described. You're right. After cutting down the spring pocket like he did, a sectioned crossmember is not possible. BTW, do you know why he went with 2" (2 1/2"?) dropped spindle instead of a 3" dropped spindle? I also noticed he uses different types (manufacturers) of spindles for his trucks.

Since he's relieving the 'shop truck' from towing, I wonder if he'll throw in a four-link out back. (SBCC...more than a driver, ... a toter. ) Good to hear it's built right (more than just for looks).

bodydropped - You got your work cut out for yourself. Noack's truck is very refine. Good luck on your progress. Got any current progress pics of your ride that you care to share?

Cool.
Look forward to seeing a pic.
Here's a fews shots of some ol' skool trucks. The second truck has a 5 1/4" chop. Kinda hard to chop these trucks and make them look good. I don't think I ever seem a sectioned truck. He's got custom-made tubular LCAs, raised crossmember and 3" dropped spindles in front and a 4-link out back, on bags.

The last truck (earlier model truck) is an ol' school truck with a bit of bling (20/22s). He has a 1 1/2" raised crossmember and a 4-link out back.

What are your plans for the suspension?

Thanks, bodydropped. I think I've seen that pic posted before.

Here's a closeup of the '67 frontend (grille). Very unique.
