Thanks all for the input and comentary.
I'm sure black will win out, it was never about hotter/cooler just color/looks. Funny thing is, once the top goes on it's being taken to winter storage for the season. Never drive it with the top on anyway, go figure. I'm thinking about having the top my side rails 'Linexed' to protect them from the hard top chaffing the paint. Kinda hate to do it but can't imagine there's any better way. Just from the few miles I've driven with the top on, it's already messed up the top of the rails. Now I gotta decide on shiny vs. satin finish... Thanks again, always a pleasure! |

I will be the black(no pun intended) sheep of the bunch and say go green. If you have to break the color up with more black just tint the window. My '69 K5 is a white top but body color on the inside. Truck was originally bright red. I like it both ways and will have the same decision to make in a few months.

Helicopter tape is what they use to keep the front of the heli's from getting chipped, along with wings and rotors, it then started being used for race cars, and then the off-road industry strated picking it up. Its a Thick clear tape, comes in many widths. But it is super strong, yes you can use it on the fron of your truck if you do a lot of traveling or somthing it would stop chiping all together, or if you jsut want some extra protection. We're going to line the body panels of our off-road race car with it to protect the paint.
Its called "Helicopter tape". lemme try and find a link somewhere. Some info about it. 3M is the main producer http://www.racerstape.com/heli.html http://products3.3m.com/catalog/us/e...er/output_html Im not entirely sure where you can pick it up, my family has friends that have helicopters and airplanes so they've kinda been our hook up. You can try like a body wrap decal place, somthing along those lines. -Cameron

The black keeps the original look.Color-matched tops look cool, but on full custom/chromed-up rides.Your Blazer has a good look that is not far from original(just better IMO).I`d go with the black IIWY(if I were you).
