Luv2xlr8 needs to post the link to his sound clip - his sounds awesome.

I have headers running 3" to a crossover that then necks down to 2 1/2" to Dynomax Ultraflo's then 2 1/2" to the hitch. Here is a clip from in the cab under acceleration Audio only MP3 file

If your looking at not paying alot then go to jeg's site then open the exhaust link, mufflers link then the Force automotive pro-series muffler. Ck out the price

Look at the design and then look at the design for the flowmaster super 40's. To me they look identical.I put flowmaster clones on my "72 vette" 2-chamber, not this brand. They appear to look just like the flowmasters. The guy at the muffler shop said the case is same thickness material. Flowmaster "paying for A name"? At any rate the mufflers on my Vette sound awesome and look good to.

I like the Flowmaster 40 also. They seem to flow a bit more and sound great. They seem to have more research into design. I would consider putting a cross-flow tube to equalize pressure and mellow the sound a bit. I have some stainless 3 inch mufflers, but they sound too muffled for me. They are nice but I am not going to use with the BBC swap.

I am also looking to put new exhaust on the truck when it is finished. would it be beneficial to have a x-pipe or the H-pipe for a stock 402 ? I am looking for a sound that is not to loud but will be noticed. Is 2 1/2" adequate. What would be a good muffler for this set up.

I put IMCO chambered mufflers on mine.....look just like the FM 40's; size and proportions...but to me, they sound BETTER...a bit deeper and a bit less metalic sounding...best thing...$45 a piece.....

I have them on my truck. Right now my set up is Headman headers welded onto 2.5 inch pipe with turndowns. Putting on the turndowns made it a little quieter but also made my idle more "ground pounding" It sounds much better then when they were out behind the back wheels.

I also went with the Flowtech Afterburners. Got two of them for the price of one Flowmaster. They sound really good so we will see how long they last. I'm not knocking Flowmasters but I think their prices are inflated.
