Absolutely nothing wrong with that truck!

The big difference there is that you have fender flares on it

Most of the trucks you see, are one that have been sliced and diced, and just left that way. Looks terrible as far as I am concerned! I also hate it when I see a perfectly nice truck, that'd be an excellent cadidate for restoration, get hacked up, and turned into a truggy, and eventually a tube buggy. Total waste of a nice truck. Do that to an old beater up, rusty truck, not to a nice one

Mod that I won't do: own a 4wd anything. Mods that I don't regret: any kind of suspension lowering or engine power adder. Truck keeps going lower, engine keeps getting more powerfull, and I keep liking it better

BTW, whats wrong with a caddy motor? Nothing, besides tire shredding, axle twisting, u-joint breaking TORQUE, thats what

Re: What is a modification you WONT do or regret??

I wont ever... Do anything to my vehicle just because its the latest fad or someone told me it would be cool to do. If its wrong its just wrong. You know like a sun roof in a prostreet car?

I will never regret... Spending way too many hours in the driveway or garage tinkering on my only hobbies!

Re: What is a modification you WONT do or regret??

things i so dearly regret.

1. cutting the rear of my cab out for a huge speaker box. all ways leaked water and smelled like exauhst when i went somewhere.

2. shaving the door handels and installing the " poppers". they froze one year and never worked again.i had to bust the glass out.

3. installing a flat tonu cover. it rubbed the paint off the bed, down to bare metal.

4. lowered my truck by placing a jack under the front x-member , heating the coils with a torch untill the truck hit the jack and the springs cooled off, and said "ok that looks good".

5. cutting my dash out for a big radio.

6. installing a bench seat and it didnt bolt up , and saying " ah , ill fix it later" and continue driving the truck.

well mods like opinions are best to their particular owners me personally id never lower shave or do anything to one of these trucks that would make it look like one of them ricer kids own it i like high stock trucks ( yet not butchered like some like) One mod i thought was great was putting a sliding rear window in all of my trucks it really makes the cab air flow

I don't like Ricer cars either, that is why I put 400+ horses of American motor in my lowered, flame painted, reasonably smoothed truck. I didn't shave the doors (but removed the tailgate handle and put on a tonneau cover for security) or take off the large "Elephant Ear mirrors" either---should have though.

Re: What is a modification you WONT do or regret??

This is kind of a nice thread to resurrect from the dead. I like it.

I will never:
1.) Cut a sunroof or worse (convertible) into the top of one of these trucks. It's wrong.
2.) Cut a hole in the cab for speakers or anything else in the bed. My cab has enough holes already.
3.) Start on cool-looking mods before making my truck mechanically sound. I can handle living with an Advance Auto seat cover, but my truck should start, stop, and turn like new before it develops a closer relationship with the pavement and running 13s at the strip. Needless to say, I struggle with this last one a lot.

Re: What is a modification you WONT do or regret??

I will never put a 3500 stall converter in a semi-daily driver again.

I will never run euro or clear tail lights or side markers.

I will never put graphics on a vehicle, except for flames (hot rod) or subtle pin stripes.

I won't follow trends, just to get attention or be considered cool.

Re: What is a modification you WONT do or regret??

WOW, you guys are true truck driving fellars, aren't you? Kinda ruins it for us dirt dragging custom builders. LOL

Didn't do the 3500 stall, but the 2400 I put in is enough.

Flames are painted--graphics are for those that think pink is purty, Pin stripes are graphics for the over 60 set.

With the sway bars, I can out turn a lot of cars and it holds the road real well.

I grew up with trucks on the farm and I got tired of the daily clank/clunk hum drum beat the hell out of it drivers and decided to make mine a little flashy. It has had the odometer turn over twice and is on it's way to the third time. So I think I am getting my money's worth out of it. Couldn't sell the dang thing anyways.

Re: What is a modification you WONT do or regret??

Wasn't pointing fingers at anyones truck...those are just things I wouldn't do. I like things fairly simple, less is more approach. IMO, once the truck gets too "busy", it takes the overall good looks away and makes the eyes wander too much...missing the true beauty and craftmanship.

But I am glad others go all out and do things I normally wouldn't do, otherwise the world would be a pretty boring place...that's what makes the hobby so great.

Re: What is a modification you WONT do or regret??

What does the 3500 stall converter do for daily driving? Just for my personal vehicle of any kind no shaved door handles with door poppers. I like to keep total manual control of those things. Anything other than that is alright with me. Oh yeah no neon on my truck. Maybe inside the cab I wouldn't mind as much.

Re: What is a modification you WONT do or regret??

1. No more shaved door handles...one truck was enough

2. Mismatch beds and cabs (90's with 67-72 cab)

3. Heat coils

4. Alum. rod sbc in a truck with air/ps/pb

5. 8" converter....see number 4

I will never dump money into a 2wd longbed. I will never regret repainting my truck "Grey Poupon Yellow"... because I know there won't be another like it around town.

Re: What is a modification you WONT do or regret??

Not full size Chevy related, but one mod I will NEVER regret is ripping the old 1.8L out of my '79 Chevy LUV 4X4 and dropping in a well built and lovingly (read heavily) breathed-on 2.0L out of an Isuzu Impulse Turbo.

It was lots of fun to embarrass the hell out of guys in their brand new 5.0 Mustang GT's with it.

One "mod" I will always regret is buying a Mazda RX-7 and "playing with it" a little. It kind of spoiled everything else as far as performance goes. There's just something about a USEABLE 12,000 RPM range and enough bhp to move small continents in something little more than a gokart. Very dangerous on the license and pocketbook, though.

As for mods to my trucks? Well, I won't bother doing any to my '81. There's just not enough left of it to make it worthwhile. I don't regret the cherry bomb muffler I stuck on there when the stock one rusted out and fell off. Wit the '90 Silverado I might do a few gentle mods, but they will all be bolt-on. Depends on how ambitious I get, I might put a half decent stereo in it.

Oh, and something I will NEVER do is anything that can be considered or
