Re: What is a modification you WONT do or regret??
I won't ever jack up the ass end of a vehicle to clear bigger tires (just say no to extended shackles ).
I don't regret lowering almost every vehicle I've ever owned.

Re: What is a modification you WONT do or regret??
I won't ever hack up my fenders to get some sorta mudders to clear, or otherwise mutiliate my truck like one of those "truggies" or tube buggies
I don't regret my swap to 4x4, the standard tranny, and Tuned port Injection

looked so bad I almost gave him a thumbs down! He had it at pretty much stock height, but with some stupid big tires on it, so it looked like a lowrider with mudders. The one thing I will never regret is, as SCOTI says, lowering pretty much any car I have ever owned. In fact, I just got done lowering my new wagon.

Re: What is a modification you WONT do or regret??
I myself would never run 22 or bigger wheels for sure. Probably not even 20's. The only time IMo I like the big wheels is if big tires are there with at leasy a 2-3 inch tal sidewall. I'm sorry most of you guys love it but I sure don't.
Around here lowered vehicles don't survive to many potholes and rough roads. We had a lowered s1 one set of blocks split in two, the second done fine but the air dam always got busted up from around here. As for something I don't regret I'm not sure I'll have to get back to you on that.

I won't ever shave the door handles on a daily driver again. Possibly won't do it on a non daily.

Re: What is a modification you WONT do or regret??
Ok the one I don't regret is adding bigger tires to a 4x4, or adding a bigger engine in any vehicle then what it had or came with. Like changing a straight 6 to small block or big block. Or 305 to 350.

Re: What is a modification you WONT do or regret??
Ok, I have violated some of your won't dos on this old project. Cut outs, 18x44s, 500 caddy motor, blazer to PU body mods, sectioned C60 bumper. Oh well! I think that most mods that are done with some forethough and quality workmanship are to be admired, even if they aren't your favorite. The only thing that I have regreted doing to any of my projects is selling them.

Won't do- Cut the bed out on my 77 to get it "laying rockers".
Don't regret- Bagging the 77 and putting 20's on it.

I wont lower my 76, I wont cut any holes in it. I just like the way it looks stock, call me crazy.
Here you 4x4 lovers go. My Dad built this in the early 80's. Not hacked built right, 454, 4 speed and sold it for alot more then he put into it! Sorry no pictures of the drivetrain that Ive found so far.

I won't ever go bigger than 20's on anything.
I don't regret lifting my 03 Dodge quad cab 4x4 dually 9" and putting 35" Swampers on it, however I DO regret leaving the Edge EZ fueling box maxed out all the time ($9500 mistake).

Re: What is a modification you WONT do or regret??
I love thoose 4x4's I think the cut out fenders are OK when the cut out flares are used, but when they are hacked up without flares, or flares hacked up too they just looks bad. I'd rather lift one up, to clear tires but thoose look nice with them cut out.

Re: What is a modification you WONT do or regret??
I'll use a visual. I would never ever use these.
I'd also never put those angular side stripes, or hockey stripes, in bright colours on anything. And I regret not prepping better for paint, in both cases.

Re: What is a modification you WONT do or regret??
Oh C--p; I have those taillights. I thought they were OK compared to the usual look of the factory red. I would not do the Fart Can muffler thing, EVER. I enjoy the Horseppower of a bored and stroked motor and a built tranny.

Re: What is a modification you WONT do or regret??
I won't regret buying a beat up K5 to build up and beat on more. Why build a lifted 4x4 if you can't or won't use it....Dent's....Check, rust....Check, dirty....Check. Had I bought a better truck to start with I might have a different attitude. I see beauty in the details. Small lift (4" does seem to small these days as far as lifts go), 35's, 4 speed, 205 t/case, 350. Dead nuts reliable. Cutting the fenders might happen (nothing excessive), but only because of the rust.
I do regret not getting one sooner. I do appreciate a well built rig, 2wd or 4wd, shiney paint or primer. Heck my buddies rig could win a few trophys if he ever decided to show it. But it is a 4wd and he built it to use it. We go the same places, although our driving styles are obviously different. Pretty cool to build a nice looking rig and still hit the trail! Its just as cool to be as a well used trail beater like mine.. |
