Re: Freon, Freeze 12?

Well I'm sorry, man. It worked for my car, but like I said, I ended up toasting the compressor. Still worked, but made many an unpleasant noise until I removed some charge. After that it just made racket when I first turned it on. They don't like to be overpressurized. My post wasn't meant to suggest what somebody *should* do, but rather, what they *shouldn't.* Guess I should have made that more clear. OTOH better spending the $30 on 134 than $100 or more for a compressor.

I'm also not *remotely* an expert. I just tried this and that and, so far, had good luck overall.

Re: Freon, Freeze 12?

I have converted several systems over to the 134A The first was a 72 C20 with the big A6 It was the best one yet.

My 85 Has been getting better and better since converting it The main thing is to flush the system alot. Use B12 Chemtool shop air do it both directions

I use lenghts of hose to pour the B-12 or acetone even into the line and have another hose going into a jug to catch the flush Blow air through the lines

Use Ester Oil Not Pag Pag is intended for vehicles that came with the stuff i guess.

And in all reality R12 isnt as expensive as everyone says its about 20 bucks per 12 oz can locally and can be got off ebay for similar prices

Its not very difficult to get the 609 epa Cert It can be done online even then you can legally purchase the cans of R-12 Im most definetly going to be going back to R-12 in the future

Re: Freon, Freeze 12?

Yes, I have used Freeze12, and it worked fine. I had a 200K mile '91 Celica that wouldn't cool. I put 2 cans of Freeze 12 in and it worked great. Found a small leak at the expansion valve, but only had to add one can the next year.

Got it at NAPA, seems like somewhere around $4 a can.
