Re: GMC 4x4 Deal or No Deal?
Hey streetstar...
I agree but I waited to long and the GMC was sold. No big deal. I bought the TRD for the wife so she could get up the street when it got slick. Last year she slid down the road in her sable into the ditch. She is getting an Enclave next spring so the TRD won't be needed. I want to get my 70cst fixed up so I may give up on the 4x4 and get my truck put back together. I only haul odds and ends...nothing heavy.

Re: GMC 4x4 Deal or No Deal?
Scott isn`t all that stand-up in my experience. He just has locators send him pics and he ships them to Indy and doubles the price. He knows nothing about the truck he`s selling. He`s a GM engineer and this is play money for him. He`s not all that bad,but only 100% honest gets the upstanding stamp from me.I bought a truck and he said it rides and handles nice.I drove it from the airport to his shop and it had alot of play and wondered.I told him and he said,"You`ll get used to it".He knew I own a few and have for years. The interior needed dash pad, seat cover, steering wheel, and arm rests to look decent.I paid him for all these,he had everything but the arm rests and steering wheel that he would send me...never got them.
He showed me a few he had for sale.A 95% rustfree Blazer that had the usual rust,a big 5%.He got stuck on one truck that was a body set on a later 4wd frame w/body-lift.He just relies on broad exposure and eventually sells everything. Some vehicles are better than others and it`s no tribute to him. Some are overpriced and some are very reasonable.I`d say $5,000 for a solid truck like that is good in the mid-west.Just beware,it`s just an old truck found in CA and brought within your reach. That`s worth something.I compare to going out and hoping to find on and getting it home. That came cost a bundle in lost wages alone.

Re: GMC 4x4 Deal or No Deal?
I have decided to spend the money on my 70cst. I have had it for 6 plus years and just have not pulled the trigger to get it fixed. So I am going to get it fully mechanically rebuilt and may get it fully done. Plus my wife says go for it so now is the time. I appreciate all the advice and information.

Re: GMC 4x4 Deal or No Deal?
Dave Ramsey (a financial adviser who has a radio talk show) says that a good woman can be a treasure chest of information for her man, -- but then again a bad one can sink the ship.
I tried using my '75 as a work truck --- believe me, i prefer it as a hot rod/toy and jumping into the comfort of something modern when i really need to do something(i drive a l-o-t though and the cramped cabs of the classics really bum me out more than anything )-- when i am home for awhile, i prefer my old trucks because it gives me a little escapism i guess. I am going through an early mid-life crisis (i'm 35) and i jump in my truck, crank up some early Van Halen, and its 1988 all over again If you put a gas tank behind the axle of your CST- you have much more room for killer tunes |
