Re: MY Newest Addition, '68 SWB Fleetside Bowtie

1/2-Ton YV 8 327 220 8.5:1 4-bbl 3 Speed

We'll guys decoded the engine and this is what I came up with. It appears to be the factory '68 Truck engine.

So far the truck is a factory V-8 (as seen above), factory P.S., fleetside, C.S.T that was originally painted in the 50th color combination although someone painted over the glove box paper so I can't back that one up.

Good buy!

+1 on painting over the current color. Semi-flat black would be cool.

Re: MY Newest Addition, '68 SWB Fleetside Bowtie

Figured I would update you guys.

Installed new control arms, rebuilt the front end and added drop spindles and disc brakes.

Under the hood I pressure washed, painted the pulleys, added a new carb and painted the firewall. So here are some updates.

Man that paint job is just...um...WTH!

I think the painter forgot to wear a respirator while painting the truck and the fumes influenced his work a little.

Looks like a really solid truck though, good score.

Re: MY Newest Addition, '68 SWB Fleetside Bowtie

I would of waited till dark, drove it home, drove it into the garage grabbed up every color of spray paint; automotive, engine, or house paint and went to town on the color.......... other than that the truck looks great its just hard looking at it (kinda like your best friends ugly step child)

I plan on flat blacking it next week and lowering it.

i stuck my boyds on it for a minute to see what it would look like. I just can't afford a second set of Smoothie IIs but I do like my 17s and 20s on the truck.

I think I want a set of 17 inch torque thrust on all four corners though. I like pro-touring cars and trucks.

Re: MY Newest Addition, '68 SWB Fleetside Bowtie

Update, Update. So since my dad wanted the truck, we decided to keep it and so far.

We pulled the motor.
Installed 4-inch rear drop coils and 1-inch blocks
redrilled the axles for five lug
Installed a original '68 wheel after repairing the column.

I will upload some pics shortly.

Re: MY Newest Addition, '68 SWB Fleetside Bowtie

This was it but my dads daily driver is a '96 C-3500 duallie that is gas powered and its killing him in gas driving around town so he basically bought it. He has been working on it when he has time.
