alright, I got some more done. I got a 350, it was supposed to be "less than a thousand miles on a rebuild". What he failed to mention is that he detonated while running it in and stuck in a piston that didn't match the others, so I will probably fix that. I had a wheel stuck on it. It had an odd wheel that didn't really match and sure enough I couldn't get it off, but I had to so 30 minutes later i had the wheel off and 3 broken lugs. I got my wheels rubber free and ready for blasting and put a roller on the back where the odd wheel was and sure enough, that straightened out the bed.

OK nothing picture worthy this week. I worked my hood hinges over and got them working right for now. I took my window regulators out and found I need a new one for the passenger side. In a slightly interesting bit of Irony, I actually met "Ace" this week. I fight (Amateur), but I tend to name things after fighters and this truck I named after Rich "Ace" Franklin who fights in the UFC. I named it "Ace" because it was a little smarter than some of my other projects, It is definitely one of my all time favorites, and it's nose is a little dinged up. Anyway, I met Rich Franklin this week he was a real nice guy and alot bigger than he looks on TV--According to the scale I have 20 pounds on him, but in real life...

You pick this thing up at "Mike's Restoration" Auction in Pomona? in late September? maybe not but i knew i saw he was having an auction out there with a TON of 67-72 stuff i had a wedding that weekend and couldnt make it, anyways im from carbondale and drive through ottawa daily for work, congrats on a nice truck would love to build a stepside some day!

Yes! The only bad thing about that auction was that he sold tons of parts, then he sold all the project trucks--shoulda been the other way around, I know I would have spent twice the money if I knew for sure it was going to get the truck. I would guess he sold about 50-60 trucks, nearly all of them chevys, but many were on their way to the scrap heap.

Thats awesome, i would of loved to had gone to that auction but my sister got married that weekend! dang family connections! haha If you ever need a hand with anything on your truck feel free to get ahold of me im new to the board but im always willing to help someone else out and being your from ottawa thats a short enough drive from carbondale!

glad to see it went to a good home, my next truck with be a short step project!

OK this week was a little crazy, but I did manage to get my wheels blasted, and primed. I received my set of new door handles and window cranks. I set up my new Wire Feed Welder and hope to get the cracks in my drivers side door welded up.

Where are your doors cracked? My left door latch must have loosened up many years ago and nobody could figure out how to run a screwdriver. Anyway they slammed the door to get it closed for a long time cracking the door shell where the latch scews go through. I have to fix it as it is rust free and near perfect otherwise.

the drivers door cracked around the top hinge. This was the third one I've seen that way, so I'm guessing it's pretty common. I welded it up tonight, ground it down and painted it. It may be the ugliest weld in the history of welding. I would post a picture, but I'm afraid the welding police would come confiscate my welder.

well definitly do not paint it pink, do no crush it and keep the w/s intact. but in my opionion remove the drive side bed fender and replace it with a matching fender like the passenger side

My heater went out in my shop and it's freezing out there, but I did managed to finish paint the wheels before it happenned, and have the doors ready to mount. I got a bench seat from teeitup as well as a brake booster. that's about it for now. I'll be back to work after Christmas, I have managed not to go in debt this Christmas season, so I have a great jump on January

Heater? whats a heater... i work in an unheated two car garage... carhardts sure help... paint doesnt really like to cure when it's this cold out though!

What's a TWO car garage??? I'm in an open to the elements pole barn (only stops rain and wind from the east (never comes that way either!))

I LOVE seeing someone jump on stuff and start getting it done, I just hate getting to the second page and seeing things peter out... still envious though! I've got 14 days off coming up (without pay though) and I think I've got 29 days work lined up for the truck.... hahaha. I'd say leave the fender mounted tire - the truck will always look like it's doing something - I have a fleet but still think of myself as a non-fender shaver... Keep goin' man!

You mentioned "broken lugs" I broke a lug nut socket this weekend on my stepdaughters VW Bus on my umteenth try . after 3 bigger bars and 1 broken 3/4 " socket I got smart and remembered heat ! Got out the propane torch and went thru 1 heat cool cycle and came right off !
You may have tried this but it works so well maybe it will help others !

NonHog...heat is great but don't forget about those inexpensive heavy wall air-impact sockets from Harbor Freight. I have never been able to break one of those!

Great find! The body on yours looks to be in the same condition as mine...they all rust in the same spots

...but the rear frame over your coils puts mine to shame, i can push down on the frame with my foot and it will bend...

come on guys, someone make fun of me or something--I have to get this thing on the road. How about this, I either post some pictures of progress on here by Sunday, or I post a picture of me wearing a pink shirt and trust me, that would be the first picture of it's kind.

stllookn, are those both your trucks? I sware, I have a copy of the second one and photoshopped it to see what it would look like with a painted bumper and headlight rings. Looks like we have pretty similar taste.
