Re: Shiny new system. The nightmare will soon be over.
Sorry for the late reply. The sub box sticks out a couple inches, so no, I can't have the seat back all the way. Sad for me because I'm 6' tall and with the big stock steering wheel, it was kind of uncomfortable at first. Now that I've been driving the truck for a bit, I've gotten used to it. A new steering wheel is being talked about though. Probably coming from Budnik.

Re: Shiny new system. The nightmare will soon be over.
Good Lord!!!!!!!!!! I would love to hear some BLS Blasting through that.
All I wanna do now is start the rebuild on my truck. But its my daily driver so i have to wait till better weather and safer roads to take out my motorcycle then i can start tearing it apart and starting from scratch. Thanks for the insperational boost and tell those guys at the shop they dont get payed enough for the phenomenal job they do. Metal for Life SDMF |

Do you have any pics of the drivers kick panel? are they wrapped in vinyl or are they painted?

Re: Shiny new system. The nightmare will soon be over.
Thanks for the replies guys. The fact that my truck can inspire others makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.
Right now the truck is actually at the shop having the new prototype crossovers for the ARC6000 components installed, so the system should be alot louder and clearer. The driver's side kick panel is identical to the passenger side. They are texture coated and then sprayed the same color as the rest of the interior. As for the rims, they have been on the truck since 1986 I think... The closest thing I have found to a match are the American Racing Ansen wheels. Mine measure 15x10 all the way around.

Re: Shiny new system. The nightmare will soon be over.
Got the truck back from the shop the other day.
The new crossovers haven't really done anything for me, infact, I like the old ones more. In the process of swapping in the new parts though, we smoked the PEQ that was sitting in the center console. Another will be on its way shortly, so right now I have a loaner KEQ-5 to keep tunes flowing while I'm away in Yuba City for the next 3 weeks. On the plus side, the truck is louder. It was loud as all hell before, but it's gotten louder. New guesses put it at over 140dB and we now have plans to redo the amps... We want to run 4 new KS125.2 Mini amps (one to each sub) and then either two SE2150 amps or 2 SE4100 amps. Potentially, we are looking at having anywhere between 1600-1800watts RMS pumping through the system pushing on over 70" of cone. That's loud... Best part, it will still be clear and crisp.

Re: Shiny new system. The nightmare will soon be over.
Good lord! That system is insane. Must be super loud. Did you have this built for SPL competitions?

Re: Shiny new system. The nightmare will soon be over.
Actually, the system is more biased towards sound quality believe it or not.
Yes, it does get really loud. Deafeningly loud. Shortness of breath loud, but the way we've tuned and tweaked and designed everything, it lives more in the realm of quality. While the truck doesn't stand a shadow of a chance in any competition, I really don't care, because I didn't build it to be judged on any level by anyone except myself.

Re: Shiny new system. The nightmare will soon be over.
Thanks again guys. I'm going to another show for ARC Audio next weekend down in Modesto, celebrating the 35th anniversary of American Graffiti.
Should be a fun weekend as I'll be attending on ARC's dime and BBQing with Chip Foose.

Re: Shiny new system. The nightmare will soon be over.
I will. I just got back from Vegas last night and had to work early this morning. That was fun...
Anyway, poor truck needs a good wash and wax. I've been neglecting it for a few weeks, so it's time to show it some love...

Re: Shiny new system. The nightmare will soon be over.
Just an update on the truck...
I've added a much needed Kinetik HC1800 under the hood. Now I have the reserve power I need when I'm at shows. I'm also thinking of redoing the lower door panels so that they match the sub box better. Carpet and white plexi FTW!

Re: Shiny new system. The nightmare will soon be over.
Redid the doors panels again. This makes 3 tries. Think we got it though. Opinions?
