Re: RARE! 1972 Chevy Cheyanne Corvette model

This is the reply I got when I asked for a pic of the SPID, Did he have any documentation for this model, and what happened to all the Coevette parts.:

"It's pretty faded but you can make it out. I have no pictures of it. The body, paint and trans are original. As to authenticity, my friends' uncle was the department head over Corvette operations in the 60's and 70's and he told me what she was. My father in law bought the truck wrecked in the rear and did all the mods to it. I have to sell it because of a divorce, otherwise I would finish restoringing it and sell it for about ten times as much".

Re: RARE! 1972 Chevy Cheyanne Corvette model

It should also have the Hi-Speed muffler bearings, right? I mean, what Corvette option on a C-10 with 8-lug wheels didn't have them? I think the model number will be shown on the "faded" SPID as BS10972. He should look for it.....with a magnifying glass.

Re: RARE! 1972 Chevy Cheyanne Corvette model

Sad to think, but I don't think he is lying, I think he actually believes what he is saying, because someone he trusts told him so. So he's not a cynic, give him a break. It's a decent swb fleet truck and more than likely at least worth $2500. He is pretty close to the rt coast and it seems kinda rust free? Why not? I have an 8-lug coil sprung dana 60 under my 2wd Blazer, it fits and I needed a rear, big deal.

Unbelievable AD! I for one refuse to give an idiot like that a "break" If he believes it or not, if he is to say something like that, he should have proof. Some innocent kid may actually believe this moron. If he buys it, he is out not the seller. Yes buyer beware, but I refuse to give him a "break" because he is the seller.

Unhappy Re: RARE! 1972 Chevy Cheyanne Corvette model

Im just throwing my two cents in here but I think the sad thing here is that the seller of this truck probably got sold this BS story when he bought this molested frankenstein of a truck him self and now he is standing behind that lie hopeing to god he can make a buck because he himself got the shaft and beleived the first fool that told him it was a Corvette Cheyanne when he should have knowen better thats how everyone of these one of a kind limited stories always get started people dont want to say its a lie because that means there the sucker that got lied to in the first place.

It's just very sad

Re: RARE! 1972 Chevy Cheyanne Corvette model

It doesn't sound too unbelievable to me.. Long bed to short bed converted 3/4 ton short wide Corvette optioned 72 Cheyenne with 71 doors, 67 bed, and original paint with non stock motor and tranny that could bring $25k fixed up... Double that if it was in show condition! Sounds like a financial opportunity there!

I think you have it pretty well summed up Blue'72.

I have an original copy of the Declaration of Independence thats been modified into a business envelope. Do you think he'd take it in trade?

why are they 71 doors? at least the passenger side has the little hole for the wing window brace or whatever that thing is. isnt that the biggest diffrence with 71/ 72 doors?

Re: RARE! 1972 Chevy Cheyanne Corvette model

and i love how everyones stuff is so special, not centimental because im sure alot of people even here have plain jane trucks that are wpecial to them for many reasons, but EVERYONE has a rare, one of a kind, SS corvette truck that had a LS-7 454 in it from the factory, blah blah blah.

im glad my cars and trucks are nothing special at all, they seem to be more rare than anything nowadays!

Re: RARE! 1972 Chevy Cheyanne Corvette model

Reminds me of that 31 Shebly Coobra I once had. Yeah, I hated to let [I]that[I] one go, it had the 742 sideriser motor in it, out of that special "B" model they made. You know, the '31 Boss something or other. Guy down to the liquor store liked to have dropped his bottle when he saw it, said he was Shebly's first cousin, and his brother too, and he could document that it was Carol's first car. 'Course it had been modified some, they had put the wheels off a Maverick on the drivers side, and some off a truck on the other, cause he raced it, you know? And anyway, his girlfriend Marilyn Munroe drove the first set slam off it...................
