RARE! 1972 Chevy Cheyanne Corvette model

Yeah I know how cheyenne is spelled......

eBay auction Quote Item number: 170189327539

"I am selling a rare 1972 Chevy Cheyanne C-10 Corvette package pickup truck. They only made a few hundred of these at the end of the 1972 model run. They came fully loaded for 1972 with a Corvette 350 (now has a crate 350), heavy duty trans and Corvette Competition Orange paint."

http://cgi.ebay.ca/Chevrolet-C-10-C-...QQcmdZViewItem

BS meter is running high on this one, but could it be true?

Well, I reckon it is rare!! It amazes me that some people will actually scab onto some bit of automotive BS and pass it on as if it is The Gospel Truth.

I need to get me one of those rare MOROSO V-8's......

Re: RARE! 1972 Chevy Cheyanne Corvette model

Why is it that every small block came from a corvette when a vehicle is for sell?? This truck Im sorry to say is a conglomeration of parts and pieces and if he gets 2K he will be very lucky........nad it wont sell because of his description either.

Thumbs down Re: RARE! 1972 Chevy Cheyanne Corvette model

What a load of crap!! Corvette option 350 but now a crate 350, originally long wheel base now short on 3/4 ton frame, and where's the Cheyenne equipment? Titanium alloy gears in the transmission !!?? So now what makes this truck so special it is nothing like it was when it had the "Corvette package" LOL!!!!

Re: RARE! 1972 Chevy Cheyanne Corvette model

I think the real truth is the owner / seller made the purchase / investment because of the rare c-10 corvette package and figured he would make some quick coin listing on eBay.

Re: RARE! 1972 Chevy Cheyanne Corvette model

I think that is that Canada version of Ebay. At first I thought it was a scam when I looked at the address.

http://cgi.ebay.ca

Here is the US version

Re: RARE! 1972 Chevy Cheyanne Corvette model

Well I just had to know more.....

So I sent the seller the following...

Dear vcgrease,

I am very interested in the Corvette side of this truck as it sounds very rare.

Do you have the original engine? Do you have the original frame? Do you have the original box and was it a longbox?

Can you please post a picture of the inside of the glove box listing the options?

So what is left of the original corvette truck? Just the cab?

Do you have documents that show the corvette heritage?

You mention heavy duty trans came with it as part of the corvette package, what trans is this and do you still have it?

- northerngmc

And this is what he sent back in about 10 minutes

Dear northerngmc,
The tranny was just a TH400. Nothing too special. It was a long box, but I bought it pretty much as you see it. My father in law actually did all the work before I bought it from him which is how I met his daughter but that's another story. THe original engine threw a rod out the block. The original bed and frame were crushed by a falling tree in a storm. If this truck were restored to it's best it might sell for around $25K give or take. In showroom numbers matching condition it would sell in the range of twice that. I actually had never heard of the corvette specials until I bought this truck and confirmed it's history with my friends' uncle who headed the Corvette line in the early 70's.

- vcgrease

I guess the paperwork is gone!

Re: RARE! 1972 Chevy Cheyanne Corvette model

I made a mistake about just every small block being out of a corvette.....seems almost every big block when being sold is an L-88 427 also.

Sorry the truck just screams hack job with the seller being a wack job.
