Re: I Joined The 69 Crowd! :)

bobbo... any idea whats under the quickie paint? It looks great, esp for 1200 bones... but I wonder what that paint may be covering.
Also, with the engine sitting like that, the manifolds may well have cracked. The exhaust is taking up a lot of the weight since there is no tranny mount supporing the back, and the manifolds usually crack and even split.
Good excuse for headers... or just run it like that till you install the too new engine. You gonna do a card and an MSD box, or you gonna swap the computer and PITA harness in too? How do you plan on hooking up the speedo and fuel system (if going FI)?

Re: I Joined The 69 Crowd! :)

Well, to answer all of your questions... The manifolds are fine being there is no exhaust attached to them (it's all in the bed), also raised the engine back up and put a bar under it to support it. I am going to get a 4l60e trans to put behind it and change the fuel tank from behind the seat to a rear tank with an electric pump in it. BUT, this all may take a bit as funds are a bit short since buying the truck, so, I am going to stuff my 700r4 behind the 283 for now and convert the dizzy to HEI...I've gotta redo the brakes since there is absolutely no pedal as of now, I'm going to tear the drums apart tomorrow and see what everything looks like and figure in what expense I'm looking at there. I really don't want to stick alot of money into the current set-up as I plan on doing a disc conversion...all takes money though.

OOPS! Forgot about the paint question, the truck must have been a greenish blue, I can tell this from underneath on the backside of the cab...

That's the plan. I am hoping to have it going to drive to Maggie Valley. Would hate to drive the Toyota there, but either way, I'll be at both.

Great looking truck bobbo, definitely worth $1200! Can't wait to see it.
