Re: Project Build Log: Ol Green
Here are a couple of more pics. To answer the gas filler question I think I am going to use a combination of longer hoses and an elbow.

Re: Project Build Log: Ol Green
No i did not paint the tranny. It is from Bowtie overdrives and that is what it looks like when it is clean. I think they put some type of sealant over it though. I sure some one will chime in.

Have you considered soldering the gas filler from a stock tank?

Re: Project Build Log: Ol Green
Well took the frame back to the body shop today. He didn't make as much progress as I hoped but he is moving along. Here are a couple of pictures.
I also had a learning experience last night. It's something I would have been mad as hell about if it happened at work. I am always preaching about double checking bolts and set screws after they are shipped from the factory. Things always come loose and when you finally start the piece of equipment up all sorts of things can go wrong. Well last night I found out that they don't ship the oil plugs in the oil pan pre-tightened. Well I guess I better practice what I preach a little better. Now there is 5 quarts on oil on the floor. |

Re: Project Build Log: Ol Green
Well I got it back from the body shop on Saturday and started laying things out.Sunday I built a bench so I can finish cleaning and assembling parts. I have been working on this truck for 2-1/2 months now and just now got a bench. I did however managed only to spend about 5 bucks on it (its in the background of the third picture). I picked up scrap from the job site to build it. I finally took a few pictures last night but then my batteries died. Hopefully I will snap a couple more tonight.
The second picture is my mobile paint shop. I pick it up and move it outside to paint. I hope to start installing some of those parts tonight. |

Re: Project Build Log: Ol Green
Here are a couple more pictures from this past weekend. I got the booster installed, the wire harness ran along with the painless wire loom, heater duct steering column finished except for final coat of paint. I hope to have it back at the body shop next week to have all the doors, hood, fenders and tailgate mounted. As a side note I was on the fence about the painless wire loom because it cost so much but other board members raved about about. After using it I would recomend it. I need to take some more pictures of it installed but it makes running wire a snap.
The last picture is the modification I had to make to the shift linkage due to the shifting connector on the 700R4 tranny is about an inch forward compared to the TH350 |

Re: Project Build Log: Ol Green
Yes please give some more info on this wire loom. I do a ton of vehicle wiring and anything to help install and keep things Neat and tidy would be nice.
You blazer is looking great by the way. On a side note I think PorterBuilt has a kit out to get that just at the right ride height Kevin LFD Inc. |

Re: Project Build Log: Ol Green
Rokcrln,
Here is the link to the loom kit http://www.painlessperformance.com/w...rchField=70920 as i said it was very easy to use but a littly on the pricey side. I plan on switching it over to a two wheel drive but not until next year. The company I work for will be building a new facility in Stockton California so I figure I will do that swap out there next year. (I am currently in Danville, PA building a new factory and using a buddy's garage for my truck). Last edited by JayDubBlazer; 06-05-2008 at 07:59 AM. Reason: typo |

I see you are using the later style AC compressor. What other parts are you changing/using for your AC?

Re: Project Build Log: Ol Green
Ok these are the last pictures you'll see until all of the body panels are mounted. I hope to have it back by next week and finish mounting all of the lights, gas lines, finish the brake lines, final emergency brake connection, electrical connections to the starter, the sound system, a new dash pad, electric cooling fan, and new alternator bracket, make a power steering pump hose to adapter tot he newer style pump, clean and powder coat old seat brackets, have new AC lines make or find the couplings to mate new pump with old system.
With that said I hope to have it on the road by July 2nd. Maybe we should start a pool or something. That is with no unforseen problems, or today's 25 cent word extranalities. Wish me luck, |

Re: Project Build Log: Ol Green
Well here are the most recent pictures of the progress. She is at the muffler shop right now and plan on getting her back on Wendesday. I have a list of about 30 things I need to do before she is road worthy again but I think I will have her back on the road sometime in July and I can't wait.
