nice. what are the frame rails 2x3 or 2x4? links 2x2 x1/4? looks good dude more pics when you made your first link bars to 24'' or so did the wheel baes change when cycling the syspension? are you going to use a pan hard bar?

the frame rails are 2x4 by .120 wall and 2x2 links 1/4 thick.. the base changed alittle bit but because i would get alot of lift with the bags mounted on the links no pan hard bar. trac bar from link to link

today my package from ***************** came. got my bag brackets, link ends and link mounts. started the right side, got alittle bit done then got sidetracked with a headache. here are some pics

alittle more progress today. i have an all new respect for guys who build rollcages and round tube. sure is a pain in the ass. hopefully i get the left side done faster then the right

2 links work nice a lot of guys dog em. I have one and ive never had one issue with it, other that everyone telling me how bad it is.But like bedsled I like the fact it works like a sway bar.they ride killer when set up right.

I've heard (and read) alot about the pro's & con's of 2-links (the aftermarket variety, not the OE 60-70's chevy truck). For me, I tested the pinion angle change using 24" long bars. I estimated 2" normal compression/extension of the suspension when driving down the road & I tested this out w/a bar set-up on a fixture/table-vise for measurements. I got about 12° of pinion angle difference which seems pretty drastic.

Did you ever measure one of your set-ups?

my old bars were 24 inches long with a two link, didnt measure the pinion angle diference all the way down and all the way up but i set mine for ride height, and drive it at that height . ive never had any driveline vibration or worn ujoints.. its only an issue if done wrong.. not much dfferent then the 2 link on the stock 60-72 trucks except for the side to side articulation..

I didn't measure extreme lift/lowered pinion change.... only 2.5" up/down which would be average travel distance from ride height unless you have an incredibly stiff suspension.

Also, aftermarket 2-links are about half the length of the truck trailing-arm style 2-link. That's a big difference when comparing pinion angle change (I know because I did tha same testing using a 48" long level).

I'm not trying to claim one is better than another. I was just relating tests I had done while exploring possiblities. If it works for you, that's great.

my new bars are 40 in. long maybe it will be alittle better but either way i havent had any issue with them

Are you planning on running a gusset on the links under the bag... or let it ride?

the links are 1/4 inch. SHOULDNT have any problems. havent in the past so im hoping none this time around

got the fuel cell ordered from jegs, 20 gal. aluminum.. should be here friday so i should beable to get that in this weekend.. trying to get it to roll around this weekend

Nice build.I want to do one this same way,, just because it looks good for me. I also wanted to ask you, what dimension metal you're using and what thickness? Finally, how did you make and afix the bushing ends that mount to the frame and where can I get those items? Once successfull then I'll tackle a 4 link. Again great build and Thanks.
