Pulled the TH350 out of the Jimmy and replaced it with a 700R4. just got to get new crossmember holes drilled and converter hooked up.

Re: What did you get done? 04/06

my bumper brackets, bumber nuts, license plate bracket and clear signal lenses arrived at work today from LMC. after work today i removed the remainder of the step bumper brackets, the spare tire holder and other misc junk under there and got the new bumper installed. looks slick but the slight gap between the bed and the bumper kinda irks me. i guess there's a piece that should go in there?

instructions might have been handy. i just had everything finger tight until i knew i had the right combination. i kinda thought for $29.00 for a license plate bracket i'd actually be able to hang a license plate on there.

note LMC bumper brackets will work with Goodmark bumpers. GoodMark stopped making the brackets that go with my application so i just hoped for the best and ordered em from LMC.

...not the case.

...also hung a blue tree air-freshener off the glove box latch. smells like surf.

that's the silver lining. I'd rather tear it down for scrap than have it take someones life when the frame buckles while driving. Who knows, maybe it'll be part of a 2011 Chevy truck.

Re: What did you get done? 04/06

I spent the whole weekend at the Lonestar Roundup in Austin, Tx. I got to see a lot of really cool old hotrods, but got nothing accomplished.

The Roundup?!?! LUCKY!!!

My weekend was uneventful.....but did buy another Impala, this time a '66. Needs body and interior work, but has a fresh 350 and drives great.

Same here!
My friends shop stayed very busy from Thursday till late Saturday night fixing a few of those hot rods.

That's a different group of people that put that show on.
Almost a clique or clan type of atmosphere among them.
I'm not saying that's a bad thing just not something I'm accustom to in the hot rod world.

I have a feeling things are going to change in shows to come.
Some very nice rides are going to be turned away at the gate and that will make things even more uneasy.
It's the Kontinentals car show and I'm glad they have it here in Austin (it's very cool!) but don't be disappointed one year when you pull up to register your ride for the show only to be turned away because it doesn't fit there criteria.

The Kontinentals have (or had ) something very unique.
I hope they can keep it that way.
