Seems that he really doesn't know much about trucks or just -that- truck because he says it has power disc brakes and clearly doesn't..
Most people that are not longtime "car guys" don't realize that "Disc" did not automatically mean "power" back in the day. Since they are all "power Disc" today.....they just assume.

My first car (69 Camaro SS/RS) had front discs, no power though.

I couldn't say exactly when GM didn't give you the option anymore though...70s sometime? If I had to guess, I would have thought that by '77 they would all have been power? Maybe the I6 has something to do with it?

I bought a 79 or 80 Silverado that I used for the drivers side fender and rear quarter panel . It was a factory Manual brake truck and it was definitely a Silverado trimmed truck . I have seen 81 and up trucks that were manual brakes . I assume you only came across one of these when the truck was ordered and the owner checked off what they wanted .

Re: i want this truck!

If you are interested in this truck ,I would ask the following questions . Has the passenger side door or fender had any paintwork done . Especially the white portion . Are there any cracks in the dashpad ,any screws holding any of the trim on the truck , is there any tears in the drivers side of te seat ? I would ask this based on some info I heard , but I am not posting this as FACT , just hearsay . You might ask for specific pics . It is a nice looking truck and may very well be worth what he wants for it . I know it will take a good amount to buy my trucks as I tend to think the clean original trucks are on the rise price wise .

I used a non-power disc brake master cyl for an 80 model on my 67 years ago (circa 1990) when I swapped over to discs.

Re: i want this truck!

I bought this truck 2 weeks ago. Allready have Porterbuilt Dropmember set up for the front, and Nate should have my Dropmember for the rear done next week! The truck will run Billet Specialties vintec dish wheels, 22x10 4'' backspace (the 12 bolt will be narrowed 2'' per side) with 285/35/22 Yokohama's and 22x8.5 fronts with 255/35/22's. The truck will be left as you see it , including the 6 banger! I Will post pictures of the carnage,( raised bed floor, etc...)

My 81 is a High Sierra and came with the L6 and manual brakes. More than likely the engine option has something to do with it. I don't think I'd want a rompin, stompin 454 and manual brakes!

Hey Crawdad,... Glad to see you make it on the board. I was going to post a reply to this thread but you beat me to it. I think your Dropmember truck will be done before mine. Keep us up to date on all your progress. Keith. (Y2K,... I mean lolife99.) Also on a side note,.... I have 4" between the rearend backing plate and the bags. So 2" narrowing per side should be good.

to the board from another Mid-MO trucker!

I've heard a lot about your F-85 and now your newest addition to the fleet from lolife99. What wheels are on the truck at it sits in your avatar?

Can't wait to see where this truck goes in the future, and good luck with the drop member install!

Re: i want this truck!

Hey Nate, don't believe everything Keith say's about me!! The 87 A.K.A. "Copperhead" had a 5-6 drop with 20x8 Torque thrust w/ 4.5 backspace with Toyo 255/45/20 (29.1 X 10.1) and 20x10 T.T's with 3'' backspace with 295/40/20 rears.(29.2X11.7) I narrowed the rearend 2'' per side. I'm suprised tons of people dont do this mod, it looks killer with all that dish in the back!! I have an old chassis builder down here that cut's the housing's for $200.00 and a pair of Moser axle's are 275.00. So for right at 500.oo buck's you have something that catch's a whole lot of attension!! Any other question's let me know...Keith.

Man Crawdad,... I wish I could have seen that truck in person. Where did it go after you sold it? I know Ken (N2TRUX) has posted pics of it before.

Dang that square looks nice. Those deep dish wheels on the rear make me drool. I just wish A/R made a soft lip wheel to match in the front. Coy's does, but they don't offer the 3" backspace that's needed for that "look".

Was it the F-85 that you bought from Rich or something else?

Thanks for the props.Yeah, Roger and his crew do some awesome work. His eye for detail is amazing, and he knows just how much is needed to make a difference between so-so and sooo-sweet.

Re: i want this truck!

I've had 20's on my 74.

I've had 20x10's w/5" BS & Dunlop 295-40's that were dead even in the wheel well as well as 20x10's w/5.50" BS & Toyo Proxes 295-40's that were much closer to the inner wheel-tub wall.

I don't see how you were able to narrow the housing 2" per side & utilize 3.0" BS w/o interfering w/the wheel tubs. I couldn't squeeze my fingers between the tire sidewall & the tub wall w/the stock width rear housing & the 5.50" BS . . .....

Re: i want this truck!

I think the tub measured close to 14'' on the inside, and since the big diam. wheel/tire combo's don't have much sidewall bulge to deal with it worked fine! You got to remember, this truck was only lowered 6"" out back. On a bagged truck it would be a little tighter! B.T.W before i sold the tuck i did a 22/24 combo using Intro wheels. with a late model rear and 14 Baer brake's. I had to narrow that one about 4'' per side!(the late model rears are that much wider!!) the truck run's a 305/35/24 and that one still does not rub!!! Oh yeah the "new" truck will be here Sat. from AZ.
