Re: my '71 LWB project - carb'd 6.0L gen III etc

Trans is a th400 out of a mid 80's blazer...rebuilt with goodies. 10" Midwest convertor 3200 stall....nitrous compatible

for mounting I stumbled across a set of frame stands w/ mounts in my dad's garage..believe these are 73-87 type mounts.

Re: my '71 LWB project - carb'd 6.0L gen III etc

using the adapter plates to the block from CarshopInc.....all bolts together well. I need to drill 2 holes in the top of frame rail, and one in the crossmember.

Pan clearance is great....only issue on first fit is I think the trans is a little close to the cab floor/firewall seam. I might drop the engine down to the next set of holes in the frame stands. Should lower it about 3/4". Trans mounted to the original crossmember w/ a poly mount.

Re: my '71 LWB project - carb'd 6.0L gen III etc

here's a few update pics...not a whole lot going on, body work for now.

I picked up new door (Tri Plus) and surprisingly I think we can make this one work, the window frame fit isn't bad.
Fitting the original fender...it will be pulled and blasted soon and primered.
Painted the core support and inner fenders

Re: my '71 LWB project - carb'd 6.0L gen III etc

filled the gas tank patch, decided I'm going with an under the bed tank with side filler of some sort.
replaced the wheel arch on the one bedside, it was thin and some swiss cheese holes in it. This is the GMC Pauls wheel arch that was advertised as having the "1/8 bead like factory wheel arch" and being factory heavy gage metal thickness....but it doesn't and it was thin gage steel. I'll just fill the beads in on both sides with filler and sand smooth. If it was heavier gage I would have butt welded it in, but I overlapped about 1/2" instead

Drank a few beers and stared at this little huffer, thought about sticking it on the truck LOL. But it'll stay on my car for a while longer.

Re: my '71 LWB project - carb'd 6.0L gen III etc

well, sorry to say it has stalled a bit. I have a ton of parts to put in and get it running...fuel tank and fuel system is in boxes waiting...wiring, etc.

I have partnered in a business on the side (Complete Street Performance) doing LS based late model stuff and haven't had a whole lot of time for the old truck.
The blower will not be going on the truck I don't believe...I am pulling it off my GTO to replace with a Vortech kit but I have a local buddy that says he is purchasing the roots blower. If he decides not to...I'll probably sell it still to fund more truck parts. I need to stick to the original plan and just get this baby running on a carb

bumping this thread though will motivate me to get off my slacking ass and make progress....will get some pics up...I thank you for that
