Re: 1970 with 10,900 miles for sell
Nice truck....but like 99% of all trucks on Feebay, it will not sell. The reserve will not be met, as stated. The seller will be out his listing fees, and Feebay laughs all the way to the bank.

That is the way most people selling vehicles on ebay operate....they want the phone to ring......thats it...It's the single best exposure you can get right now....and yea, it's not perfect and yea, you gotta be careful....but the exposure you get is second to none!!! JMHO, Dan

Re: 1970 with 10,900 miles for sale
Yeah, I believe it 100%. Just look at the "completed" listings.
It is great exposure for items that can be shipped...and it is great exposure for a vehicle. Problem is, most people will not want to pay for shipping a vehicle, and most will not buy one unless they see it firsthand. |

Re: 1970 with 10,900 miles for sale
I'm always a sceptic when used cars/trucks are involved. After four years the original owner has 3 entries in the log,all the same pen pretty much, and did they really have 20W-20 back then?
OK.maybe different pen last one. Nice truck. I vote "RNM"

Apparently you don't understand what I'm saying....Thats OK!.....But, completed auctions, reserves not met, sold notices....they all mean absolutely nothing.......As the vast majority is completed outside of the auction! Every single vehicle (except one) that I have bought or sold in the past 5 or 6 years I have done so using ebay as my single source....I just flipped a sweet little 69 Camaro that I bought & sold on Ebay....for a tidy little $9K profit...It works!.....Found the truck I'm restoring right now on ebay.....another smoking deal! Hell...it's basically the same price to list a vehicle on ebay as it is the local newspaper or auto trader and you get 1000 times the exposure.... Oh....and as far as actual auctions that have went the distance on ebay and have sold through the actual auction....as of 04-08, there have been over three million cars sold through ebay!....thats a big ass number!

Re: 1970 with 10,900 miles for sale
Not to get to far off subject but Rack Man makes a good point. I just recently sold my 99 TRD Tacoma for almost $2000 above Kelly Book value plus the buyer paid another $1400 to ship it to Ca.
Back to the topic at hand. That is a nice truck with low milage but with this economy I was wondering if it would meet the reserve. So far no...

On the Camaro forum...it's pretty common to make a post asking a fellow member to go look at a vehicle for them when the car is out of state...I've done it for people and they've done it for me... Dan

3 million cars is a false number!....It isn't even that large when you compare it to how many listings have been placed on Ebay!....How many times have you heard someone complain that the buyer was a deadbeat, didn't show up, etc, even after it "sells"?!.... I found one of my trucks from a local advertisement!.....I got it at a way better deal than it would have been on Ebay!... Last edited by leddzepp; 01-15-2009 at 12:02 PM. |

Re: 1970 with 10,900 miles for sale
I agree that both of the low-mileage trucks are nice. The fickle society in which we live isn't as kind in their desire for a LWB truck, in spite of the overall condition. There will come a time that "original" LWB trucks will be desirable, when numbers-matching is an issue, over a LWB to SWB conversion. This is just my opinion, because of the publics' desire to have a SWB.
I predict that the truck will sell in the $9-11K range, with the 6-cylinder engine becoming a factor that will limit the upper range of pricing. Not that it is a bad engine, but we are a jaded bunch. Since gasoline prices have fallen, for however long that event may last, folks will quickly gravitate to the horsepower-grab and forget the prices of last summer......until....... The current economic environment not withstanding, people who have disposable cash will still look for something that they consider as an investment commodity. It's sad, but that's who we are. But, a 6-cylinder truck with an automatic didn't really achieve any better overall gas mileage than did a small block truck.....for those who are anal about fuel economy. They're nice trucks. I wish both sellers the best of luck.

Re: 1970 with 10,900 miles for sale
I could never own a truck like that. I couldn't leave it alone. I'd ruin the original-ness of it.
Nice survivor. Is it common for original paint trucks paint to look like a different shade when the sun hits them (bed/cab)?
