Re: cheap/easy lift kit

Poke,
Thanks for the carb pic's!!!!

As for a cheap lift search on CL. I see used and new uninstalled on there all the time. Might also search the local J yards as they pop up from time to time. If not a block in the rear and add a leafs up front seem to be pretty cheap way of going. It al depends on how much lift ur looking for.

Re: cheap/easy lift kit

I've heard of hockey puck for body lifts aswell, Also Heard of using hockey pucks as body mounts,,,just the pucks no other body mounts.

I've also hear of the bodies starting to crack and rip around the pucks. They don't flex hardly at all,,,great for a hockey puck,,,,bad for a truck body. Body mounts are meant to flex alittle and absorb road noise/vibration. Even the poly body mounts.

Just a thought guys.

Re: cheap/easy lift kit

I was on ebay about a week ago and found a complete 4 inch lift for these truck for a little over $300. It included front springs, poly bushings, rear blocks and one add a leaf, all u bolts, new shocks, brake line drop brackets, and a new steering arm. It was a name brand suspension lift, but i just can't remember what its was.

THe other is to just add 1 leaf to the front and a 2 or 3 in ch block to the rear. That would probably cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $75.

Re: cheap/easy lift kit

Cool. I was looking into a lift for my truck if no one buys it. The plan was to sell the 86 c10 but the biggest bite I've had for sellin it is 300. bs.... It has a tall camper shell, LWB, and new parts under the hood with a subwoofer sound system... I blame the Louisiana economy. Regardless, It looks cool or will now that I am putting a 89 suburban grille on with dual headlights (traded out support). I figure no one will give me the 1400 I want for the new radiator and grille plus base price I originally asked so I was going to upgrade the carb, suspension, and exhaust. Would it be a bad idea to try 4" in the back and just new shocks in the back? That might look pretty badass if it isn't too high. I'm hoping O'Reilly's has tools I can use to put on the springs myself. I may be completely wrong.... Please let me know if the shop is the best idea for front and/or rear suspension.

I figure I will stick with shocks in the front based on what I read and what I can remember about ride.

Re: cheap/easy lift kit

I forgot to add that I would be repairing the interior by designing a a custom dash and then trading the doors for electric locks/windows along with a new fender to reduce dents minus the box. In the wild and crazy event that I earn enough money this summer, I'll get the remaining body work on the box, paint the whole thing, and try to get some kind of liner for the bed. Btw, the exhaust will be a stack out one or both sides with a flowmaster. Probably sound/look better on diesel but I think it'll still turn heads with a cute little 305 v8.
