Re: Replace studs?
Look to the right of my Hobart.
Disc and hub are held together by studs. Excuse my mess! ![]()

Re: Replace studs?
The hub isn`t always seperate from the disc. The unit is known as a rotor or disc. The studs are "pressed" not packed. With owning a 4wd you`ll get to where taking that hub apart is like putting a battery in.

Re: Replace studs?
If you havent pulled one apart before, you will need the 4 prong hub socket to get the nuts off. also be carfull when putting it back together. the inner nut has a small nub stiking out that lines up with one of the holes in the washer between the nuts. You must line that back up when putting it back together. If it wont line up then flip the washer over and try again, if that doesnt work the tighten the inner nut a bit more and repete. If done correctly the nuts wont back off. Ive fount that snap ring pliers work very well to put in the washer.
Remember to repack you wheel bearings while it is apart! |

Re: Replace studs?
I've had strep real bad since Sunday. I am so tired of being cooped up in the house all day, I was so tempted yesterday to start working but I cant! I should be well enough Saturday or Sunday to work on it, I'll tell you guys how it goes. I just have to see if we have snap ring pliers or if I have to go buy some.

Re: Replace studs?
You can get by with two thin objects like a pen screwdriver or pointer/center punch.

Re: Front hub help!
No reason for two threads to do the same thing.....merged.

Re: Replace studs?
When I was messing with it the other day I was able to push in hard with the pen driver and pry the ring up a bit, but the other pen driver couldn't get under it. Anyone have pics of where to get it under or any pics to help?
